954 rim on rc51 forks?

Big Vin here:

I bought myself a sp1 front end, to replace my 954rr front end. This way i will get better radiator clearance on my 900rr. I got both front ends complete, but the rim of the rc51 frontend is damaged.

Is there a way to fit the 954rr rim into the sp1 forks? Ifso, what would i have to adjust?
If not, what rim would fit, besides the rc51.

Wich triples should i use, the 954 or the sp1? (i use clipons)

Thanx!
Big Vin

Re: 954 rim on rc51 forks?

the bearings swap, just about all rims are 47mm diameter.... what you need to do is have a axle sleve made... because the inner sleve guide is bigger. so the sp1 sleve will not stay in place and the 954 is to big

Re: 954 rim on rc51 forks?

what i would do is run the sp1 triples with the sp1 frontend with a 954 wheel with sp1 spacers, bearings, the custom sleave i told you about with 310mm rotors (i think that is what the sp1 has) and that should be ****

Re: 954 rim on rc51 forks?

ive seen spacer kits on ebay for about $10 USD and bearing kits for another $10
the thing i dont see on there too often are rc51 front axles.

92954 top clamp and RC lower clamp will get your front end the tallest, but i think you already know that Lex

i was gonna make some caliper brackets to run 92954 rotors on the RC forks but lately my opinion is that the 92954 brakes are a little too much

and if you want to get it even taller, the HoHey triple will get about another inch. then you might want to put a 10 mm spacer where the top of the rear shock bolts to the frame, just to get the steering geometry closer to stock

Re: 954 rim on rc51 forks?

the ballin set up would be 954 triples (upper and lower) and a newer hayabusa forks, caliper, rotors, wheel, and spacers..... they are about 1 1/2 inches longer then the 954 forks and they are gold..... and you can run any 98 99 f4 rear wheel and keep your hub and sprocket and your 900, caliper and mount are the same aswell. and the wheels would be very close to matching..... only a freek like me would notice

Re: 954 rim on rc51 forks?

the 954 wheels wont fit on the rc51 forks, because the rc51 has a much smaller axle. you might be able to swap out the bearings, the reverse is possible but you will also have to change the bearings on the rc51 wheel, and grind out the inner part of the wheel with a rotor tool to accomodate the larger sleeve.

what the uck's wrong with you? u must be one of those type A personalities. have you ever done it? i have. you will need to replace the bearings aswell as the spacers. you cant just change the sleeve. i meant that it wasnt a bolt on swap, and i went on to say that the other things would need to be changed to make it work. this is why i only have so few posts on sites like this because of *********** like you that start unnecessary ****.
