FI cage / broke bolt

Somebody talked about this once before, but after like an hour of searching, and getting distracted, I gave up. So my post.

Had my first practice session of the year being back on the bike after my crash.

So anyways, I looked down mid session and noticed a long section of the all-thread rod was sticking out of the swing arm mount part of my cage.

It sheered near one of the ends inside.

I got a new piece of all-thread from Ace Hardware, and had them cut it into 2 lengths for me... So I now have a spare one on hand if this happens again.

So did I over tighten it or something? Or is this kinda normal for FI cages? I'm considering safety cabling the bolts in case something like this happens again.

I'm not one to talk **** about peoples products, but if the FI cage is for your 929, your best bet would be to sell it now and get somthing else. Mine could not even handle 1 crash. I now this has nothing to do with the all thread rod but its just my experiance with there product.

Dude, i was that guy! haha

My threaded rod snaped twice, and i gave my FI Cage one last chance.

And guess what i discovered 5 mins ago?

The frame slider is cracked and the engine bolt is snapped at the head.

FI Cages are rubbish, after so much frustration and bullshit im sick of it.

Im Now in the market for a new cage for my 600RR, i hear Sick innovations is the best, so i think ill just rock one of them

Re: FI cage / broke bolt

yea I have had to replace that threaded piece before and I too have been a victum of the F.I cage effects. I also tweeked the slider and I think it bent the frame a little bit. This is my 2nd cage, before I had a 905 that took 1 crash. the F.i took about 3. Next I think wll be a tygershark cage which Im looking at getting like a group buy going.

Re: FI cage / broke bolt

Tyger shark......+1
OMR................+1

I have three subcages (OMR, SICK, Powers) and I like my OMR by far the best. Superstealth and quality design. All necc mounts and foldable pegs..
:YEAH

PS.. but i will say differrent cages look good on different bikes. All good .. I like all the differences. Although tygershark and Omr look sic as hell together!
