I weigh 210lbs and I ride a stock 07 R1. I am quite an experienced and fast rider but not a stunter. My 03 R1 would lift the front in first when I used to ride it aggressively.

I read the how to on this site and on the R1 forum and I basically tried to do a wheelie while sitting towards the back of the bike. I tried riding in first gear until 10,000 rpm and then open it all up (it just raced forward) I tried double clutching and it LEAPED forward. Maybe I'm too heavy or maybe I am instinctically trying to keep it down as I would during fast road ridding.

The feeling I have is that it is too long and the balance is really low and forward. This is a great handling bike but maybe not made for wheelies.

Thanks for your help.

You guys obviously have a serious attitude issue. Suffice to say that I will certainly mop the floor with your sorry A**es on track or on open roads, take my word for it. The point of someone asking a question is getting some serious answer and not a couple of teen age ******* trying to impress with obnoxious comments.

LOL I love when people get mad...Don't take them serious man, it's kind of like a ritual here to rip on someone. No fence but if you can't take a few jokes then how will you take the hit once your bike trows you off? R1 are very easy to pick up by the way.

Re: New Member needs some help

Im riding an 08 R1 and will tell you it is easy as hell to get up. Im slipping the clutch but going staggerd in 2nd if you bounce you can do it a 35 and up. It has some low end lag but if you bounce it, it will come up. The only problem is balance point on this bike is insane. I am allways speeding up on matter what but im a sissy and wont take it all the way back. BTW Im running stock gearing and it clutches up better than my old r6 with -1 +2.
Also look into a f4I throttle tube and practice. And if your slipping the clutch and all it does is lung your timing is off.

Thanks. I know the drill I just don't like it, its moronistic and not very constructive. I did start with a search but the threads did not deal with the 07 specifically so I asked and truth be told there are enough sane people on this site that might help get me get there.

I'll try bouncing it and getting the timing right. Will keep you posted on developments.

Stand up,Put your left leg on passanger peg, right leg keep it on yours to cover the break and if you dump the clutch you should have no problem picking that bike up in most gears.

Now try thinking real hard (try is the key word here) and draw your own conclusion.

I was trying to avoid starting with stand up wheelies as I find I have less control on the bike. i use to get the 03 up sitting down but I guess maybe I have to take that route with the 07.
