1st gear or 2nd
well what does everyone think is easier to control.? 1st gear to me will be a lil harder because i it has more response with throttel. 2nd i think will be better because it is a longer gear and it isnt as jummpy with the gas

...more centrifugal force in second also. The bike is more likely to gyro itself steady. 3mph for me is damn near impossible to keep steady, but I'm new at this too. 55 however, is easy as cake.

Ok I hear what youre saying but you have far less engine break and you will kill yourself. After a few hours of first gear youll see the benifits. Please read the How the Wheelie sticky, It will help you quite a bit.

Oh, I see what you're saying. I have a lot more engine brake in 1st and am practicing everyday even if for only 10 minutes to clutch up from idle but it just falls all over the place. I thought he was asking about the bike being steady and easier to control if you're covering the brake.

Whatever speed you are comforatable at. 25 would be ok for 1st when you start then try slowing it down and going longer before revving out. Once you get to BP you will no longer rev out.
DONT FORGET THE REAR BRAKE SECTION OF THE STICKY. LEARN WHILE YOU CAN !!! Bad habits die hard

Re: 1st gear or 2nd
I need to get my first low speed loop on a big bike done so I get that fear gone. I've looped dirt bikes and fifties but never a sport bike. I know it can't be too far off tho. I knew I bought that cage for a reason. haha
