IT doesn't mean that they have the legal right to do it, and there are many court ruleings about the legnth of time they can detain you to develop PC, (Probbable Cause) for an arrest....20 - 30 min is the time considered reasonable for them to investigate!

NO! There are always limits and knowing the law in your state is very important!

They can give you speeding ticket from cameras, don't see why they couldnt give you a wreckless/CNI..

Hell I hear in some citys, they even ticket people for running stop lights VIA a camera system that auto snaps pics when you run a red light..
This is different, they can set up their own cameras (NOT YOURS) and use the information they obtain for tickets but to actually arrest/take freedom away is a much different criteria.

Very True, they will try to go as far as legally possible and walk the line but holding them responsible for their actions is important.

and there's a newer technology called LPR(license plate reader) that's like a camera, but can be mounted anywhere, even on cop cars, that can scan and read multiple license plates at on time and much further than the eye can see or video/pictures can take. This product will probably be available first for major cities or highway patrol and/or limited patrol units in areas where speeding/fleeing occurs most.
I've used the newest system's and it's really cool stuff but it's not being used for what you think..and the fleeing cars this does not work as well as you may think....but it's pretty neat stuff...used for more intel and to help track criminals.

Re: can cops take footage

As far as taking your footage and using it against you goes, from what I have been told and witnessed, they cannot use your footage against you because there is no way to prove when the footage was taken. It could be from a different day, which would not pertain to them messing with you today. That's why their own footage is time/date stamped, etc. Also, one of your basic right is the right to face your accuser in court. A camera does not qualify as an accuser...must be a human. Tape can only help a human's tesimony, it can't stand on its own.

I am no expert, but this is my understanding.
