Fiberglass or bondo the tank?
Ok so I am redoing my tank cause the bondo cracked and stuff. So I am going to try this short strand fiberglass bondo anyone used this stuff before? I know I will need to put regular bondo over the top to smooth it out but the fiberglass is water proof and when I got all the old bondo off the tank there were some rust spots and I heard bondo attracts and holds moisture. Will the fiberglass hold up? Should I use less hardner to give it more flex...a lil help please

Fibeglass is definitely the way to go
just follow the directions, smooth it out so there are no bubbles, and build it thick!
Use as little bondo as possible, that way its strong as possible
And use some de-ruster on the rust.. LIke "a must for rust", takes like 30 minutes to a hour, but will remove surface rust

Re: Fiberglass or bondo the tank?
can I use it on the plastic fairings to? Or is there a better way to fix those? One has a crack and they both got some rash. I bought them from eznut and he really hooked me up so props to him.

I have never tried the fiberglass bondo as i try to stay clear of bondo. But you can never go wrong with the cheap 10 dollar body filler from an autobody or auto paint store. It will work 10x better than bondo and last twice as long.

I used bondo on my plastics and it cracked first ride but idk about fiberglass bondo never used it its worth a try if it cracks all you gotta do is sand it off.

Re: Fiberglass or bondo the tank?
Living in Hawaii I surfed and had to fix boards so fiberglass is some thing I like to use. I use 2 types or 1 type with 2 different catalyst. 1 sanding resin add a filler like Q-cell to make it as thick as bondo if you want then add the hardener(catalyst) less is better goes slower but less brittle, sanding resin needs to be sanded if your appling another say cloth over your handy work, then sanded smooth and brushed with more resin and fine sanded if you happy. Laminating resin same thing basicly but you can glass layers with out sanding(can rough sand but gums up the paper better not to) in between then last coat catalyst and surfacing agent(parifin , wax) that will make it sandable.
