reckless driving in CA?

Anyone know what the fine is for that? Is it 2 points on your licence or 1? I haven't got a ticket for anything in over a year, what are my chances of being able to go to traffic school?

Thanks in advance.

Re: reckless driving in CA?

2 points, big fine, possible impound... level 2 traffic school(16hrs -8hrs,2days) if you ask for it and get lucky

oh ya and it's considered a criminal violation...you have to go to criminal court instead of traffic court. need a laywer

guess it just depends on the cop, but those are possibilities

Re: reckless driving in CA?

i have liability for about $500/year....

if u mean with after a reckless on ur record, that **** will bump up like a G i heard, it's one of the worst things u can have on ur record as far as insurance goes, it somewhere right up there with a DUI.

didn't know you can get probation just for gettin a reckless, i thought you at least have to have like a evading charge or sumtin?

Re: reckless driving in CA?

i pay $200/year for liability with 4 points on my record. i went with a small insurance firm, told em i had no points, they never checked.

oh and reckless will give you 2 points, and they might suspend your license.

its a misdemeanor and you face up to 90 days of jailtime for it. and if your case is in van nuys courthouse, you're fucked, cuz they take that **** more seriously then murder.

Re: reckless driving in CA?

Just focus on getting that **** reduced. Most judges will put it under "Exhibition of speed" if you weren't doing anything too stupid. They both carry the same possible fines and jail time, but reckless is a criminal offense, as stated above, and exhibition is a traffic offense. And from what I know, you can't do traffic school in Cali for ANY two point offenses any more.

In HI I believe 4-6 based on severity, I don't want to lose my license and/or not be able to afford insurance.

Re: reckless driving in CA?

what everybody else said. Its a misdemeanor and its 7 years on your record and two points. Get a traffic lawyer and get that **** reduced. Friend of mine got caught doing a wheelie on the freeway but got it nocked down to a non misdemeanor and only 1 point. I think he paid something like $500 for the lawyer. Do it!!!! $500 is cheaper then two points and 7 years on your record. Also check the traffic code you got sometimes they write down the wrong extension. I got one where he put midemeanor C which was wrong and it got thrown out of court.
