hold a nail with one hand where the motor mount is behind the fairing then push the fairing onto the nail to make a mark then drill it with a big wood bit.

Re: SI cage problem

Never used one on my personal bike but I know Ian is a good man and makes a hell of a product. For the powers guy.. just like it was said before you could have school recess on your cage, its a jungle gym plus his customer service is horrible... My next cage will most likely be from Ian. We will see how generous he feels.. Cole (Lil Krazy) was talking the cages up so I might give em a shot..

for the top of mine I broke a shitty flathead screwdriver and ground down the flat head to a sharp point. then put the back end of the screwdriver into my motormount bolt hole with the point facing out, then lined up the fairings as best i could, putting the fairing directly on the tip of the screwdriver, then i hit the back of the plastics with a rubber mallot, that gave me a good starting point for the rest of the hole drilling process. all i had for a drill bit was a uni-bit, i would recommend a hole saw if you have one. at least 1 1/2" probably more like 2 though. ill take pics and pm it to you.

and they tell you everything you need to know on the sickinnov website http://www.sickinnovations.com/installations.htm

sick innovations is where its at.

HA i wouldnt take that advice.. id still hhave a cage on there i was just giving the kid ****.. but we just used to pound nails in every single section between tread on the tired back in nebraska and went and rode street in the snow.. not too smart but funny as hell when your going five miles an hour down the street wash it outand the bike slides further than it would if you were doing 100 on dry ground.. just kinda slowly floating down the street...

haha its cool dude....ur just hookn straps to the subframe or rear pegs on each side and to the mount that the threaded rod goes through so you can pull it closer after you get the motor mount bolt in on the right side then you can start pullin and get the other motor mount in and then you can start getn the threaded bolt in......u just want to pull that closer to getn lined up and ur usin the subframe as something to pull against....hope that explains it, if not ill take a few pics if you want me to dude

MAYBE THIS IS BETTER......... SET IT UP WITH BOTH MOTOR MOUNTS IN AND THE MIDDLE PART NOT TIGHTEND OR MAYBE NOT EVEN WITH A BOLT IN IT IF YOU CANT GET THE MOTOR MOUNTS IN ON BOTH SIDES THEN PULL BOTH SIDES AND INSTALL THE ROD THEN PUT THE LAST MIDDLE BOLT IN........ i tried so many ways i cant remember if i start with just the right side and pulled or started with both motor mounts in and left the middle part for last......one of them ways will work though......just be sure you dont cross thread the motor mounts dude

I've dropped mine (with NO motor mount bolts) just like in that avatar 15+ times in ONE single session on occasion...

I honestly couldn't even begin to count how many times my bike has gotten tossed just like that w/ the same cage... maybe 100x

And the best part is I just pick it up... take a quick look around, then keep on riding.

The things a ******* tank, you cannot go wrong w/ SI period. :YEAH

Had to get a new SI cage, hope I don't run into these problems putting it on, but then again, already know what to do if I do.
