You need to take the outer bearing race out of the neck of the F4i and the R1 lower triple to a bearing supplier.

They will take some measurements and go in back and get you what you need.

I just did it today for wheel bearings on my 636....I'm putting a 05 zx-10 f.e. on and keeping my 03 636 wheels.... Walked in with the zx-10 axle and the 636 wheel and told the guy I need 2 of what will make these work with each other.. 5 min's and $22 later I was on my way back to work

Question Re: f4i front end conversion

Has anyone tried a newer R1 forks, with a radial calipers, like from years 07-08 (also in black)?
Or the difference with an 03 year calipers is not so sensible?

I believe its a direct swap. i'm in process of doing this swap also and all the bearings on the 600rr are the same so I don't foresee any problem.

Re: f4i front end conversion

Thats what I thought. I have only seen pic of the 600rr bearing and they look to be the same as my f4I bearings. I just wanted to make sure before i drop $600 on a 600rr front end. Thanks

definetly not worth that money... you ought to spend it on something that will actually make a difference.

Re: f4i front end conversion

i got some vibration in my front end at low pressure braking and im not exactly what is it so i figure its a good reason to upgrade. so is a 2005 cbr1k rr front end a direct match? guy on ebay has a complete front end for decent price. either that or im going with a 07 cbr6rr.

As long as your Ok with your clip-on's under the top trip its bolt on... If you want them up top you will need a ho-hey top trip AND a 929-954 lower trip. 1000rr forks are about 1 1/2 inches shorter than the stock f4i..

Re: f4i front end conversion

i dont like the stock height of the front end of an f4i. way too tall. it makes the bike better for wheelies but worse for stoppies. if you stand back and even look at an f4i it does not appear to have the same pitch as the others.
this may be a poor example but like on my crf 50 i have an ishock which adjusts the height of the rear, and when i jack it way up stoppies feel so much better, it comes up more predictable and rolls more balanced and is easier to control. but then it makes wheelies gahbage. there is a happy medium though. and i'd love to find it on the f4i. sounds to me like losing 2 inches would definitely do it. but there are rear suspension options for the f4i to raise it as well. i cant see ditching f4i forks when they can be beefed up.

Re: f4i front end conversion

hey does any one know if you can use the f4i rim on the 929/954 forks. can you just change out the bearings and rotors?

you can use the stock f4i wheel but it has to be machined because the 924/954 wheels have their wheel bearings deeper in the wheel/ go to hai bike shop website at the top of the screen and they can machine it you just send them your wheel
