R6 tank dent help!
Does anyone have any good pics on how a 2003 R6 tank would look like with the tank dented in?
And some good advise on how to get it done right. I think these have that metal tube in them and I'm scared to mess it up.
I've done tons tanks for gixxers and 929's. and all those came out sweet as hell. But this is my 1st R6 and don't want to screw it up.
thanks

Re: R6 tank dent help!
how it would look????
what kind of dent are you aiming for? every dent is different, and there are different styles
if you have done many before then you should have some idea what it should look like right

Yeah i've done a lot of them. And different bike's tanks crease in different angles. I dont want to crack a hole in it. And If possible to dent the back end more than the front.
I'm looking for good advise. Thanks

Re: R6 tank dent help!
metal tubes???
are you talking about the ridges that go along the top of it?
i dented mine, and they didn't crease. it didn't turn out to good though...
but i did it when i was upset, and just jumped on the top for awhile, kicked it a few times, hammer-punched it, and then finished it off by beating it with a 35lb dumbell.
your probably going to have to use bondo to smooth it out.

Re: R6 tank dent help!
Ok dude, here's the deal with the r6 tank....you can only dent the back of it down in because of the shape but that really all you need to sit on it. take a chisel in at an angle to the two support rods throgh the filler cap. You will more than likey pinch a hole in the overflow tube that runs through the tank but u just gotta seal it off at the uderside of the tank. Be sure to work the folds in the metal that run striaght back and focus more behind the cap than in front....and im sure you already know to LEAVE THE CAP ON when hammering. Pull it off and it'll look like this.

Re: R6 tank dent help!
whats up w/ all the white r6's? mine's white too, but i kinda want to go paint it now...
and stock05 - those are pretty damn good dents. if i could do it again i would go with an o-town dent.

Re: R6 tank dent help!
whoa.....
it sure looks nice... but I'd have to speculate that it's gonna suck for actually USING it.
You're gonna fall outta that thing all the time and that skate grip will do a nice job of shreddin your pants in the process.
stock05's is nice and deep... ugly as ****... but looks like it cleaned up nice w/ the bondo and paint. :YEAH
AGAIN.... whoa
that thing is dumpster material for sure
