Alright.....The cage works !!!!

Went down pretty hard last Saturday practicing 12'z. Bike got all ugly on me (sideways). If it wasnt for the cage I think my gixxer would of been K.I.A. Bike flipped and hit both sides.
Oh yeah.....itz on tape.
The cage took a serious beating....!!!
Here are some cage pics.

Cheers

HOLEY MOTHER OF GOD!!!

how fast were you going, like 100mph?!?

I flipped my bike doing 12's like 10 times maybe a little more and it's still just fine. I also flipped it doing a 110mph stoppie (probably tucked about 80mph) and it still doesn't look that bad.....gixxers must be fat *** bikes to put hte hurt on that ****. HAHA

how old is that cage? is that one of the new one's that Tim made that are suppose to be stronger cause that's what i have and it works great.

100mph ??? Honestly I was doing about 25Mph. The video shows I was mm's away from touching the bar and it got all violent on me sideways. Once I knew I couldnt save her I bailed and watched her flip on down the road. I was trying a sit down 12 !!!
What a lovely sound it was. As far as the cage, I just bought it about 4 weeks ago. I was a bit unhappy as the cage frame savers are fuked. But in all honestly the cage saved me big $$$$.
I am hoping I can buy just the frame savers from TIm as the rest of the cage is fine.
Cheers

Bad News!

You might want to pull the plastics off that bike and inspect the frame. Chances are you cracked it somewhere on either side-front north of the motor mount. After those crashes things look real peachy until the plastics come off. Trust me, im going in for my second weld job.

Thanks, the bike is being stripped down tomorrow. That day I noticed my right fork seal was leaking and I crashed that night.
I'll make sure and have a look around the engine mounts.
The video is coming.......
Cheers

thasts ****ed up,i could see bending but the slider part just snaped..you may want to see if that was defective or something..seems like it should have been more stronger..

Well Hayez I thought maybe the same thing, but its probably more b/c of the unlucky way it hit the ground. I have to keep telling myself that without the cage my bike would of been a complete wreck.
Anyway I sent Tim an email hoping that he would sell me some replacement frame mounts.
We'll see what happens.
Cheers

Honestly I think its good that the cage bent.. heres my .02

An impact like that needs to be absorbed somewhere, if you have a cage that is bullet proof something has to give somewhere and that most likely would be your frame. Be glad that the cage gave and you prolly won't have to do any welding to the frame.

Looks like the bolts gave on the mounts, just replace those and everything should straighten out.

VJ, No doubt you are right about something having to give. As you can see the cage did absorb 90% of the punishment.
I cant wait to get back out there but it aint gonna happen without a cage...thats 4 sure.
I was always worried about dropping the bike even with the cage on for fear of demolishing the bike. Well now I have the confidence that I can keep practicing the slow stuff and not worry about dropping it.
Most of the boyz cant believe the minimal damage to the bike after seeing how the bike landed.
If I had taken my mirrors off, I would of gotten away damage free to the bike.
Oh well live and learn.
Cheers

LOOKS LIKE ITS A GOOD THING YOU HAD THAT CAGE!! BUT I WOULDNT WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT ****ING UP THE BIKE,....CAUSE ITS GONNA HAPPEN IF YOUR STUNTING. AFTER MY FIRST REALLY HARD CRASH 2 YEARS AGO I FIXED EVERYTHING ON MY BIKE, NOW ITS JUST LIKE....DOES IT RUN? **** THE REST OF THE BIKE, PLASTIC FIXES WELL WITH SOME CREATIVE ZIP TIES!!!!!!

Oh no doubt, although I use stainless wire to braid up the cracks !!!
You know its a stunt bike when the bike trunk has a roll of duct tape in there !!! Lol.
As long as the thing runs, thats fine with me.
Cheers

I crashed my 6R last week 4 times learning 12's. On the first crash my cage broke the same way yours did, I just took a hammer and beat the frame saver back together and welded back solid then redrilled the bolt hole. 3 crashes later still going stong. If you havent heard back from Tim you can buy the frame savers seperate, but I fixed mine before he got back to me.
