inverted forks
I started stunting on a 2000 929 sold that got a 2000 GSXR 750 both bikes had inverted forks, I just sold that **** and got a 2002 F4i but the forks are bent people keep telling me to just convert it to inverted. My question is why ? what are the advantages aside from blowing a 15 dollar seal now and then that is easy as hell to replace?

Re: inverted forks
if you gotta replace em anyway why not, i did it just because they look wayyy better but theres not really a big performance advantage unless youre rollin stoppies more than like 400 ft. a standard front end is fine for whatever u want to do, esp on a bike where the front end is off the ground 90% of the time.
What’s the difference in stoppies 400 FT +

Re: inverted forks
I just went through this same situation w/ an '02 f4i w/ bent forks. I looked at all kinds of front ends...........they're all $$$$$. After everything is added up, it's an expensive upgrade. The only way to do it IMO, is to find a COMPLETE front end, otherwise it costs too much to piece it together. I finally decided it was too much $$, and ended up winning an aution on ebay for a set of straight f4i forks shipped for $117. The "buy it now" price was $185 plus $46 shipping........I'm stoked! I was told almost the same thing......if you don't roll 100'+, you don't need 'em. I can only roll about 35', so I definetly don't need 'em..........yet...lol. Good luck!

Re: inverted forks
well since you asked and i have nothing else going on in my life ill entertain you.
the f4i forks are not "bad" for rolling stoppies and theres been alot of debate that you can make them just as good as any of the usd forks by having them built with stiffer springs/oil revalving and such.....there has also been talk that because the small part of the fork is being held in the tripple it is more apt to flexing than the bulkier usd forks. all of this promoting a potential pogo effect. 929/954/1000rr front ends also provide superior breaking larger rotors radial brakes etc. when youre hauling *** in to a stoppie at 80+mph the solid feel of an usd front end provides more confidence for stabbing at the brake at that speed and provides more stability.
all this is info ive read from other posts and collected in my brain for you, ive never rolled stoppies on a conventional front end so i cant really tell you from experience, my f4i got a 1000rr front end out of cosmetic value alone. im a glamma stunna..:YEAH

Re: inverted forks
performance wise I dont think theres much difference in conventional vs. inverted forks...conventional forks tuned right will out perform inverted forks that are out of adjustment...and it doesnt take much to throw off fork performance....hardly any high performance machines use conventional forks anymore so the newer inverted forks may be better because of the latest technology...but alot of times Showa or Kayaba will introduce a new design that performes worse that the previous year model. Whatever you decide to do just make sure the setting/specs are within range and you should have no problems.

But then again maybe i should keep them and fix the seal
