f4i wont hold charge
threw a new battery in keeps dieing...hooked it up to charger wont start even if i put it on 50amp for a sec...i believe its the rectifier, but wanted to double check

Re: f4i wont hold charge
I would definately say the rectifier, sounds like the same issue I had before I changed mine out...turns out I had a hot wire grounding out and it was frying the rectifier \ regulator. Steal one off a friends and test it on yours quick to make sure before you buy one and have the same issue and end up .

Re: f4i wont hold charge
could be like three different things. could be a bare wire grounding, could be the rectifier, or it could be the stator. probably a wire grounding or touching another wire though.

Re: f4i wont hold charge
i dont think its the stator...it tries to turn over for a second then makes an "electrifying" sound right near the battery...no the clicking sound a dead battery makes...rectifier is only 25$ im just guna order that an see were it gets me

Re: f4i wont hold charge
check the white plug from the stator if its all burnt inside thats it bro and you need to hard wire the beeech

Re: f4i wont hold charge
It sounds like you have other issues if you 50 amps wont let the bike run
But just curious, when you charged the battery, you DID let it get fully hcarged at 1amp right?
IF you charged it at 5amps or more, it's pretty much shot. (it will work, but defintely not as good as a new battery)
And if you charged it at 50amps, then thats definetiely 100% your problem lol
But even a battery charged at the wrong voltage, should at least start the bike and run a while.. sounds like you have a short somewhere on the bike.. Maybe even inside the starter or somthing? idk

Re: f4i wont hold charge
well if you put a new battery in the bike and it didn't start then it is deff not the charging system.the charging system is easy to diagnose. first check if you have voltage/amperage coming from the stator.(put the meter on AC) if you do then next in line is the regulator.you have an ohm reading in the manual so ohm the regulator out.
if still nothing check fuses, starter relay, and finally pull the starter to see if it's binding somewhere.....good luck

Re: f4i wont hold charge
no prob...bike looks good.
oh and i forgot. if the bike is turning over but not starting check this
f4i's run like **** or wont run when the battery is dead or close to it/and a problem i had one time was somehow the bike fouled all 4 plugs at once.it was sparking but in the head rather then in the electrod.(freak thing but has happened)

Re: f4i wont hold charge
god i hope its not the plugs i hate changing those things...nah wen i put the new battery in it started n ran fine..but the battery slowly got weaker within like 2 weeks...an now its been sitting in my cold garage for 4 months..so i think a new battery n rectifier shud do the trick...i am going to check the stator plug also
