I know three people that lost chains on older GSXRs (00-03s or so, back when the bikes were newish) and they all wiped out that cover and broke the waterpump. One was a newish telefonica that broke deep in 6th gear and the chain managed to break the subframe.

I posted up a week ago wondering if anyone has had the problem with there bike not rollin , the tire getting stuck . Who ever said there is something stuck around the front sprocket , you were correct. It was a mitten . It must have fallen and landed in the chain some how

Suzukis hav a bit different of a design and you have to have that cover on there for the clutch to work anyways. It's also usually broken all to **** when the chain breaks :dunno:
