you will be fine, use a DA with 320 buzz them until they are smooth (even though you will be tempted, dont use the edge, you will just make the light lumpy), then hit it wit 400 dry, then 600 wet, 800 wet, 1000 wet (if you want not really necessary), then use a buffer with light duty compound and move fast or you will burn the plastic and have to start over.

it will work, when i worked at the body shop me and the other painter would rub out minor scratches and transfer on headlights then sell them on ebay.

i have actually fixed a lot worse, granted a pebble at 10mph would have put a hole through them because there wasnt much material left after i was done.

Re: can i sand my headlight?

220 seems kinda rough for plastic. 320 on a finish da, but i doubt you have that if you are asking. get some good 3m wet/dry paper with a soft sanding pad from a auto supply store, not autozone or some ****. a place that sells auto paint. get 400, 600, 800, 1k and 2k, maybe even 3k. you dont need a whole packet of each if you only plan on doing it once. then some extra cut compound.

or just leave it bc chances are you are going to f it up again

you dont need anything finer than 1000 and heavy compound with a white pad will burn that bitch fast.

DA= dual action sander, but i was actually refering to a palm DA which is smaller, but they are both pneumatic tools, so you will need a compressor. sanding that by hand is gonna be a bitch, its going to come out wavy as ****. i would suggest taking it down to your local body shop and have them do.

Agree, wet sand with very fine sand paper and buff it out but not to hard or fast or you will burn it

just make sure when you switch grits to sand out the scratches from the previous paper that you get them all.
