Re: Round bar GOT TI?
So thats why my TI shift **** works so good! Its lighter to make it easier to shift my super sweet skyline with an RBJZ10000Million with a triturbo on it. and when i say skyline I mean Nissan sentra but it has a GTR sticker on it so it might as well be a skyline.

I might be sticking my foot in my mouth, but i know that the grades of TI that i have worked with have been noticeably heavier than steel. But you dont need to use nearly as much to be as strong. There may be some grade of TI that is lighter than steel.

Re: Round bar GOT TI?
I think this piece cost me around $60-80 shipped back when I bought it off Ebay, it was an auction. If you actually orderd it from a metal supplier it would probably cost even more...
And kj is totally right this piece weighs about half of what the steel one its replacing does, and I wore through %75 of the steel one in one season. And I dont scrape alot..
Im not going to sell these its just a little project for my own bike, I just thought Id post it up to give people ideas. I never thought you could bend it that tight as easily as I did. It has mad recoil though! You need to over bend this stuff alot to get the shape you want....When I let go of it in the press it sprung back like 45degrees the first time, but I was cold bending it.....

Re: Round bar GOT TI?
My original idea was to make it replaceable/removable, then you could use steel or Ti and also have the ability to adjust the length...Basically my idea was to have some large collars welded onto the base unit that mounts to the subframe, the bent U shaped bars would slide into the collars and be held in place with a bolt or pin..... If you tired to make the base unit that holds the bar to the sub out of Ti too, it would cost way too much in material not to mention TIG welding the TI....

Re: Round bar GOT TI?
thats cool definatly but seems like a waste of TI
you could just make the round bar out of steel and make some kind of puck piece that mounted on that was TI. thats what I would do.

Re: Round bar GOT TI?
To each their own but I dont consider spending $80 and some time on my bike a waste, Ive got way more parts on my bike that are more of a waste then that bar trust me...
I just missed my scrapes looking like this when its not even dark out yet...I'll gladly pay $80 and some to get that back..And now that I think about it, I spent more then $80 on just this Ti plate and still had to pay more to have it drilled and tapped to fit my 12 bar...

We had a very similar idea to make interchangeable round/12 bar ends and have the base stay bolted onto the subframe. Kind of 2 bars in one. Just never got around to doing it. We still plan to eventually though.
