my buddy painted his bike.. and he got all the **** from walmart.. just sand it.. spray primer.. then paint.. then clear.. then step back.. and take a look at your piece..
funny thing is.. my buddy that did that.. after he painted it.. he sent a pic to SSB and they put it in the mag.. under our readers rides or some ****.. it was hilarious.. it was dark blue with flames.. but yea.. do it do it...

heres what you need (all of these item can be obtained from your local paint supply store)-
800 grit sand paper
cheap spray gun
any single stage paint or base clear if you choose (i prefer to use ppg of HOK)
wax and grease remover
pull the stickers off, sand the stock paint down with 800 (being carefull not to burn through the stock clear), clean thoroughly with the wax and grease remover, set the parts up and spray them.
i did sytfuR6's 03 R6 i find the thread in a minute and post the link.

sounds pretty simple. i got it all, except the stock clear? once i starts sanding i down, where do i stop? once i sanded off the original color, right? and what about the tank?
