Re: ground out engine illegal
yea, make sure the frame # is clean. sometimes they don't know where to look on the frame for the numbers. if he needs help, SHOW HIM, lol. they rarely look at the motor numbers. dont' **** around and get it impounded or any **** like that.
p.s. steamy **** is maaaaaaad cheap.

its possion of stolen property and attempt to alter vin and then when they take the motor out they can still pull up that vin u can grind for days that number goes all the way to the bottom so baically dont even bother with somthing with no numbers

Re: ground out engine illegal
How the **** would they pull the numbers when the material they were punched into is gone? Thats the biggest load of **** Ive heard in a while....All the way to the bottom

Re: ground out engine illegal
Its called an Acid Test. They can pull the #'s up even if they are ground down and welded and ground down again.

Re: ground out engine illegal
Sorry but I call BS!!!!!!!! I think they just say that to try and deter people from doing it. They punch those numbers in with metal dyes or engrave them, acid test imo wont show **** after its ground down because there was nothing put there from a dye or engraver to cause a chemical reaction.

they do it with guns all the time after people have grinded them off, but yea they can def. do it and its not that hard for them to do I guess. watched some show on history channel about that

Re: ground out engine illegal
WTF is acid going to show? Most numbers are punched into the surface and are only 1mm deep max....If you grind off 2-3mm theres is no way the force from punching those numbers are going transfer any further then a mm or 2....
I wont believe it till I see it, and I aint ever seen **** like that before.... So let me know were I can get this acid? Cause I got a few frames that Ive re-VINd that I can try it on....No stolen **** but Ive ground down salvage numbers and engraved clean numbers from titles Ive bought....

Re: ground out engine illegal
Guns arnt made of cast aluminum Id assume the punching process for hardened steel gun parts use alot more force and tranfer deeper into the part....But were not talkin about guns now are we

Re: ground out engine illegal
they can get the numbers off the frame from the inside of the neck. it is easy for them to do

Re: ground out engine illegal
I dont need to travel to do this, if you could just tell me what kind of acid is required and what the process is Id be willing to try it out.....Ive psyically removed 2-3mm of material and I just cant imagine the numbers transfering any deeper then that..Id like to see it thou
