need cage welding info

Re: need cage welding info
glad you guys mentioned that, its best to mig in a shop setting but also be careful, it needs to be ventilated because suffocation from gases can occur
and yeah stick is very strong if done correctly.

Re: need cage welding info
okay, that answered another question about gases...
correct me if i'm wrong on these...
1. mig and tig use gases
2. arc just uses electricity
3. arc = stick welding(aka)
4. arc can be done outside but the other two need to be done inside(w/ vents)
5. arc doesn't require a clean surface but both mig and tig do.
btw, as far as tensile strength, which one has the highest/most?
p.s. for instance, on 905 cages, i''ve heard of welds breaking ALL THE TIME. even one or two of my welds(when i had a 905) broke....why is this? bad design, bad welding, or wrong welding type?

Re: need cage welding info
they all use electricity but you pretty much got the idea and as far as tensile strenth it all depends on the machine your using and rod or wire like you could have a little 240 AC welder but its only capable of weldin quarter inch but you could have a big body miller boom mig that can weld 3/4 inch or you can have a 110 mig that doesnt really penetrate just puts a bead on top of the metal but they sell them at walmart so everyone has one or you can have a arc....Get what im sayin
