Re: Bike transportation

Some info from my buddy below, when it is just one he actually just tie downs to where the back seat track is on the floor...He did state he had to take the windscreen of to get in.

I hope I tied it down right....I tried calling Z and he explained to how to do it but I'm not sure if this is what he meant by it. Well it didn't move for the 4.5 hours that I was transporting it and nothing got scratched up so I'm assuming it was right....

The tie down straps actually look like they're rubbing but they weren't from what I could see.

Cool, thanks meng. I'm gonna start looking into this and the trailer. I like the trailer idea better but if I cant fit it the minivan would be the next best thing probably.

Re: Bike transportation

i just bought this for towing the bike

i still have this one and it would fit two bikes plus gear and tools no problem if you took the rear seats out

i would sell you the big one for $2000 it has a 350 v8 with alot of miles on it but it runs great i think i could get it delivered to you for about $500 so you would have a portable garage for $2500

there is big dent on the right rear quarter but the rest of the van looks pretty good you can see the dent in this pic

I'd love to have that but the only reason I wouldnt is coz of the insurance. I'd have to check out how much that would be. I'm definitely selling my truck that I own now because I'm getting raped with the payment and full coverage so with the dough I get back from selling I'm picking something up. The only drawback about that is I wouldnt want that as my daily driver so I'd need 2 whips with insurance on both. Can you PM me the VIN so I can get a quote?

Re: Bike transportation

My wife drives a wheelchair van that is basically a cargo van with a tall roof on it and a lift on the side. I told her boss I got dibs when it is ready to sell!

It wouldn't be much longer than a minivan. They're pretty compact and it's all enclosed with no windows. No one can see what you're haulin.
If ya go with a minivan, go cargo mini or black out the windows.
If I can avoid tempting a thief looking for a bike, then I'll do it. I would hate to go in somewhere, come out and see both my truck and bike gone.

Or maybe I'm just paranoid since we've been burglarized 3 times since moving to Dallas.

Re: Bike transportation

I can get my R1 and my stunt bike on a 4x8 trailer no rubbing. Its close though and as soon as I get fairings for my R1 I might have to pull off half my cage. works good for me though
