It all boils down to money...
why pay a lawyer 500- 1000$ to get a ticket dropped thats the same amount or less value in fines...

other than a couple speeding tickets my record is clean, putting somebody in jail for a stupid speeding ticket is retarded, although i do know of a kid who got locked up 3 days for driving 100+ in a 65, not sure of his previous record but i dont think he had much.

VA is ridiculous as soon as im done with school im getting out of this **** hole.
pleading not guilty on such a petty ticket or fine isngt going to get you thrown in jail...plead not guilty..at that time they will probably hold a trial and let you present some kind of evidence to proove your not guilty...if you cant do that..they will find you guilty and ull have to pay a fine and maybe some community service

again...? why pay 500 to 1000 for a lawyer to get a 500-1000 dollar ticket dorpped..i know this becuase i recently received the following
reckless driving
driving an offroad vehicle on the road way
eluding or attempting ot elude police officers
operating a vehicle on a roadway with no liscnese
The eluding police is what got me..that was 1500 bucks.....but the judge dropped it to 165$...the reckless ticket was only like 165$ to begin wiht so i just paid it..
i dont see why you need to get lawyers for something not so serious

hey thanks for nothing, I can read, no need to state the same thing twice.. makes you sound like an idiot.

I'm just asking for advice from people who may have had a similar experience on what would be my best approach to the situation. If you can't help or give any useful advice I don't see a point in you stating your opinion.

that was pretty much my train of thought at the time. From your guys own experience, is having a faulty speedometer a good enough reason to plead "not guilty". If so I think I'll go with that route, get the bike calibrated to prove its off, install the speedohealer and show them its fixed and then go from there.

3111a is failure to obey traffic devices.

they often will give you this due to no points and they still collect about 150 bucks.

when you go in there you have to talk to someone first... the officer or someone. track him down ... get there early and talk to someone about pleading for a lesser charge with no points 3111a!!!!

if there is no one before you appear in front of the judge... ask the judge... but make sure you ask politely...

Seeking advice from somebody with more knowledge than yourself on a topic that could potentially lead to having costing yourself a lot of money isn't being a "*****". If it was then you, and the rest of the people on this forum or any forum for that matter would be "******* pussies". All you do is prove your own stupidity by trying to act tough and make stupid *** comments.

If seeking a higher level of knowledge to better oneself is the wrong thing to do, well then I must say the world is in trouble.

You sir, are a dumbass.

now back on topic.

no, 21. I just don't have any experience with this kind of legal stuff. I do my best to not have any confrontations with the police.

I'm only assuming you would know this works by your own personal experience? If you could read, I clearly stated I already forfeited my right for a public defender, I saw no need to spend the extra money.

I don't know about Mexico, but here talking like a 6 year old stops being cool by about the age 7. If you haven't learned that, perhaps you'd be better off going back there and reconsidering the importance of going for your GED.

Ill stop with that, I refuse to any longer support your stupidity.

1. riding on the wrong side of the street
2. riding on the sidewalk
3. riding with headlights off

1 point each equaling 3 points.

i got quoted $2,500 +

im assuming you were cited a reckless for those 3.. that does suck. was the 2500 just for the citation or were lawyer fees included in that.

Re: court question when pleading not guilty

i got taged for something like this couple months ago... not on my bike in my truck... it was like a 67 in a 30 or something like that...

plead NOT GUILTY...

walked into court... Gave them bullshit excuse to WHY i was speeding. And said ill pay whatever fine just please give me no points... i have good record type of thing...

walked out with NO POINTS & a $200 fine.

ALWAYS PLEA NOT GUILTY! YOU MIGHT GET LUCKY AND THE COP WONT SHOW UP AND YOU GET OFF WITH NOTHING!!!!!--And the worst thing that can happen is your found guilty... court cost's are like $6.

Re: court question when pleading not guilty

Drag it out,ask to apply for a court appointed attorney even though you're not getting one it will usually buy ya two weeks. Most insurance companies do their reviews after the first of the year. That will save ya a-lot of money considering the offense

20 something points (i lost track at 23) in 3 months and all i got was in the ballpark of $5,000 in fines and informal probation for a year and a $100 fee for the public defender. public defender is the way to go.
