Handbrake Durability: Brembo vs Magura

I have a Brembo and I've tried Magura before. I love them both. My Brembo is so fragile though. Does anyone have any experience breaking Maguras?

What do you mean your Brembo is "so fragile"? What have you broken on it?

Ive been using these for my front brakes on all my bikes since I started riding 7 years ago, and I have never found one to be fragile...

Ive broken levers, bent push rods, and even ripped the top hat right out......But thats whats supposed to happen when you crash hard, and then you just replace the lever $50 or buy a rebuild kit for the top hat and push rod $40......

If your breaking the actual master body, then theres a problem....And if thats the case the billet versions will be stronger then the forged but overkill IMO....I only buy the billet ones for bling factor, because I dont notice any differnce at all in how they work/feel and like I said for strength its overkill..

I broke the resevoir nipple a week after puting it on. A month later I need to rebuild it (push rod and top hat). I understand that happens, but I bought it a month ago! I've crashed much harder many more times with my old handbrake (gsxr/636 radial) and never had these problems.

That's why I went Brembo, but if the maruga holds up better I'm going to switch.

Re: Handbrake Durability: Brembo vs Magura

I've always had Brembo on my bikes and never had a problem. I carry the full line of Brembo and have never herd of them being fragile at all.

Exactly, the one I had took some direct blows to the ground and kept on kicking like it was new.

I agree, but I can't afford to be replacing parts on it if it's just as fragile as the brembo.

Maybe I've got a lemon?

Re: Handbrake Durability: Brembo vs Magura

IDK how the **** you even hit your HB on anything to brake it, no matter what master you're running.. I've alway ran them full length w/ out cutting the end off the lever too..

If you have a cage design and sliders that they actually put some brain power into it shouldn't roll up to your levers, and if you run clutch on top like most do you have that to protect it too. I'd have to squid pancake flip my bike and completely miss the cage and the whole bike land on the clipons, or flip an endo and land funny on it.

Must have an f4i w/ there wak motor mount position, a garbage cage, and streetfighter.

Re: Handbrake Durability: Brembo vs Magura

I had to replace the top hat on my brembo once when I was running a long lever and it smoked the ground... that's been about it as far as maintenance goes. Getting that adjuster off the top is a pita though.. now i just leave it off cuz I fucked it up, and lost it.

Re: Handbrake Durability: Brembo vs Magura

my rod was fine but my top piece broke. the kit was on back order so i just used a fender washer. had to trim it down just a little but it works fine. now i have a rebuild kit so if it breaks im good but i don't think this fender washer is gonna break like the brembo one.
