Twizzler - maybe if there was an upper fairing on your bike, to protect the precious Brembo...

 

The top hat is made weak on purpose, that way it breaks and doesnt break something else more important/expensive....Id replace it with the right parts before you ruin something else...If you used a steel washer it will eat away at the ball on the pushrod.....steel on steel isnt good

 

i crashed my **** the other day and came away with a leaking seal around the reservoir stem. Does anyone know what kit i will need to fix tht ****? its on a brembo 16 x 18. other than that the brembo has been the best brake lever ive ever purchased.

 

1st of all makes sure its not just leaking around the res hose....If it is truely leaking from the res stem you can buy replacements for $3, they come with the stem and the rubber seal....THEY ARE A BITCH TO PRESS BACK IN THOU!

I'm going to have to read into this magura. Sounds crazy and I've never heard of it before.

 

I should point out no part of my brembo has ever touched the ground. It has just broke from use, or perhaps I bumped it with my leg.

Abe, if you don't snag that Magura I might. I don't know much about it, but from what I understand a 12mm bore should be super powerful.

 

That was the first thing I had to replace. Lube it up with brake fluid and it makes it a bit easier to push in.

 

it says theres 9 avaliable, isnt the lower the mm mean its better for single caliper

Looks like im getting NEITHER! I'll stick with a master off a bike, like a 1000rr... and know levers will run me >$20

 

lockhart phillips sells folding levers for the 16x18 brembo that retail at 29.95 so it's not THAT bad. it's when you get the genuine brembo/magura **** is when it gets crazy expensive.

 

And its not like your going to be breaking levers every week, well at least you shouldnt be. I run a brembo HB and front brake on my stuntbike for over a year now and never broke a lever yet. Ive only broken the top hat with my hand when I fell and pushed the lever forward with my hand as I was falling...

Ive only broken Brembo levers on street/track bikes that are crashing at like 100/mph.....If your bike rolls onto the controls and breaks levers you have a bad cage...

 

I have a old Brembo 16*18 wich is leaking from the inside i think.
You cant see it leak anywhere but air keeps comming in somehow.

I already have another brakemaster now, but i dont wanna just trow the old one away without trying to fix first.

Dont worry, you dont need one, you got one of those bars on your bike that prevents you from flipping a wheelie.

EXACT same problem I'm having. Mine degenerated to the point where my lever has no spring-back. I believe that kit will fix the problem.

 

No that will not fix a leak anywhere, that is just a "crash repair kit"....That will only fix a bent push rod or broken top hat...

Brembo masters are sealed at the factory, and the piston cap is tightened and then glued into place and should never be removed...Brembo doesnt sell any internal replacement parts, so even if you did open it you cant buy any parts for the inside....

I did manage to open it up, but i guess i have to find another solution then.
A friend of mine modified some 19mm radials to 16mm and 14mm.
So i think this one is going to be a 14mm then so i can use an other piston with new washers and it should be good.
