Re: What Does It Take To Win Comps

A run that keeps the crowd in awe, combos, acros (why do people think they're gay?) and most importantly, use of space. I hate when i go to a comp and someone uses 1/2 of their lane just to stand on their bike and move slow or tryin to lock a trick down... bust it out and keep me interested, i'm stoned and only have about 4 seconds of attention span.

This coming from someone who spectates a lot more than they ride.

i'm not stunt rider but i would say that you need a few things..

you gotta have skills, a great attitude, fans, a bike thats up to par, somethign that will attract a crowd, know a few ppl in the stunt world and a great bag of tricks.

Re: What Does It Take To Win Comps

I'd say you gotta keep the crowd entertained.
Some of the UK guys have CRAZY skills but don't qualify due to the crowd not realising how special it is.
Rock out there and get the crowd hyped, encourage them to cheer and ****!

As one of the guys above me said, USE ALL the space you have.

Re: What Does It Take To Win Comps

1. An attractive bike
2. Make a lot of noise
3. Make a lot of smoke
4. Dont do anything slow or on the idel
5. leave the circle combos at home unless the rules emphasize technicality over crowd appeal

Re: What Does It Take To Win Comps

The game has been stepped up alot in the last year or two.

Your presentation is one thing. The way you and your bike look.
You need to be on top of your game in 1.Wheelies 2.Acros 3.burnouts 4.Stoppies 5.Overall 6.Crowd involvement 7.Judge involvement 8.Execution
You need to have at least 5 different tricks in each category. The harder more technical the better!
And the way your run looks when you throw it down!
Like someone else said watch some of the names above in there runs. Thay place in the top for a reason! Also when you compeat after they judge ask the judges what you can do to better your Run/Score. Not all comps are judged the same but i don't think you can go wrong with this.
If i left anything out add to it.

Re: What Does It Take To Win Comps

Hours of practice when there is no one else to ride with. Hours of practice when no one is watching. Hours of practice in the rain, snow and below freezing temperature. The motivation to keep practicing even when it becomes boring.

That is what it takes to win.

Best post in this thread...hands down!! :YEAH Atta boy Ryan!!!

Aaron however had the best post related to me personally!

I am feeling everything you mentioned in your post Aaron. I live so far away from KC proper I end up by myself riding more than not. It's no fun and it's sometimes hard to push yourself to go when you are alone with noone to even watch me..... or in my case to learn from.

I wasn't sure if that was helping or not though, havin a hard time feeling the rewards so far..... and my goals aren't to win comps yet, if ever really. I may be getting too old and arthritic for that! LOL

Big UPs to those of you and also my friends that compete!!
