Re: anyone use auto paint rattle cans???

I used rattle cans for the paint on my fiddy and besides the scratches and **** in the plastic it turned out amazing. It will look good but if theres scratches and **** in it you will want to bondo and sand to get everything smoothe, but yea go for it. Im sure it will look better than before(from what you wrote).

Re: anyone use auto paint rattle cans???

i'm not gonna take credit for this cause i read it somewhere on here yesterday...i think it was on here.. but anyways, the trick is to put the rattle cans in a bucket of hot water for a few minutes to get them heated up...paint comes out much better. Also, prep, prep, prep, the better you prep, the better the final product. heat lamps & baking the paint on = good..hope this helps

Re: anyone use auto paint rattle cans???

as stated, prep is the key. mine is rattle can with two coats of clear. it will not win shows, but i still get compliments everyday. sand till smooth using filler as needed. final sanding i used 800 grit. then wipe down using rubbing alcohol and paper towels to get the oils off.

Re: anyone use auto paint rattle cans???

you can make rattle can look good just remeber to keep it wet, it looks like **** when you put it on dry. also its a bitch to sand off when you want to get real paint, it clogs paper like a ************.

Re: anyone use auto paint rattle cans???

I like to use high heat engine paint with ceramic.. I can't remeber who makes it but autozone and checker have it like $5 a can. lays out nice and even and it holds up to the elements very well.

you can make almost anything look good as long as your prep is done well.
