Re: si keeps their word
I used to go through at least 2-3 cages a year, they wouldnt crack welds or anything like that. But every 3 point cage that goes throught the bodywork eventually shifts from side to side on big hits...Then they start touching headers, bodywork, case covers, and thats when I toss them and get a new one...
Well this season I bought a TS and its lasted longer then anything else Ive tried...My bike doent roll over and I havent broken anything on the bike all season...The other day I lost a fast SS circle and pancaked with both weels in the air, it hit so hard the TS slider cracked right in half....But the bike was mint still! I dont care how strong you think they are, a 3 point that goes through the bodywork would have shifted from that kind of hit, but the TS doesnt even move....$40 for 2 replacement sliders from TS, I'll take $40 over $250 for a new cage anyday....
I wont be buying anything else from now on

TS? What that?
I have an si and its worked great. I think the design is great. Its beefed up where it needs to be. But I think 905 has a little better craftmanship. I was surprised when i unwrapped the si some of the welds werent all that great and the mounting points kinda look like ****.I try not to beat the **** out of it. Usually i can save it pretty good.

Far from the truth, at least for my 636 TS cage....

But.... Johnny, have you ever tried one of the newer design SI cages (the ones where the motor mounting tube gussets are closer to the frame)?
Because I too have used 3 point mount cages that bend to ****... even one of the 1st generation SI f4i cages got bent till i had to cut it off.. but it only bent in that one place where Ian redesigned it w/ longer gussets... and it took over a year to bend that much.
Now the new design one's I have put through HELL.... (i had ACL surgery last march, so I do not even try to save certain falls... just let the bike go and get away from it).
I'm gonna get my hands on a Tiger Shark one of these days just to see what it's all about.... this way i can actually say which one is better rather than speculate...
Having said that... I've been through 3 FI's on 2 different bikes... and a 1st generation 905 that broke all the welds on 1st 2 drops..... they both suck ***... don't know about the newer ones.
