DBB Cable routing questions with pics
Hiya.
So I'm rebuilding my 929 after a crash, and have decided to go the route of dirt bike bars, which is opening up all kinds of cable routing problems. Including but not limited to lol...
Throttle cable pair...
Front brake lines...
Clutch cable...
Hand brake...
So, ok, here's some pics on the first bit. Now normally, the throttle pair routes between the forks and goes in on the right side of the tank.
Because I'm running DBB, i ran into a problem that if I keep the starter switch in it's original normal position, the front brake lever ends up hitting the guides for the throttle cables. So to fix that I had to basically steepen the angle of the start/stop switch so that the brake lever clears the cables. And in so by doing this, I lost a bit of length on one of the cables when the bars are turned to the right.
So, this is how it looked before I rerouted them...
Ok, Again, the problem that I have is that one of the cables ends up being too short, and pulls against the forks.
So I rerouted it like this:
FROM EXPERIENCE, DOES ANYONE SEE A REASON WHY THIS WOULDN'T WORK? LIKE CHAFFING OR SOMETHING THAT I DON'T ANTICIPATE NOW?
YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THIS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
So I'll have to get more pics tomorrow, and post up how I routed my clutch and brake line... and get opinions there too.
So let me know!!! Will this cause me to crash and die?
Thanks

First tule of cable routing make sure throttledoes not stick when turned in either direction. I have never seen it donw that way but if it works go ahead with it

i just did this last week... i had to get a new clutch cable.. no matter how hard i tryd i could not get it close... hand brake i re-ran have plenty of left over.. just moved the throttle cables so they did not run between the forks and the front brakes i had to swap with with a 600 rr stock till i get the money for longer high presure... worked for know but pissed me off a little..

Yeah those risers look a bit on the tall side.. no wonder you're having problems getting things to reach.
There is no problem with where you route the throttle cables as long as they don't get caught, stick, or get stuck/trapped on full lock. If they are fine then there shouldn't be any problems at all.
My F4i throttle is put on upside down because the cables were too short and I'm too skint/tight to buy some new cables so I just put the switch gear on the wrong way round and turned the throttle cables round on the tube... it works as per normal, only the start switch and kill switch is UNDER the bars... which as it happens turned out to be a really good thing as now I can keep the kill switch, but theres no way I can ever accidentally hit it in spreader/highchair/50/50 etc etc...

And yeah, looked at the DBB risers today... they sit about 1" higher than they need to. Got them from FI. But because the 929 has the funky top triple, I gotta give them some credit for even making this one that works. =)
