Re: New Thread for 636 forks /looking for new forks to put on 636

I put an '03 GSXR-1000 complete front end on my '03 636 this summer...

The races from the GSXR fit PERFECTLY into the 636 frame... the ONLY downside is that the gsxr forks and stem are an inch shorter than the kawi's... therefor you have to leave one of the lock nuts between the frame and top triple off... and the front sits a tiny bit low...

i want to find GSXR forks that are a BIT longer... or try honda/yamaha races in the 636 frame... i have a spare 636 frame at my house that i will try different races in if anyone wants to send me spare races from honda/yamaha's that they have laying around to see what fits...

everyone take measurements of forks and triples you have laying around to see what might fit... ill get kawi and suzuki measurements up later!!!

Good thread bro!

Re: New Thread for 636 forks /looking for new forks to put on 636

i tried to put 04 gsxr 750 tripples and forks on my f4i and it wouldnt fit, the bearings and races were diff size. so im assuming that because suziki and and kawi are compatibale and honda and suziki arent that honda and kawi wouldnt be either.

Were doing this for wake up call , so no one will get hurt if they r doin endos or whatnot to play it safe than being sorry.

this is the best thread so far cuz we all are working together to see what is the best forks to work on 636.

i'm going to test on 2005 600rr and try to slide in or put everything on it to see if it fits.

So now we all know 05-06 is in process snap the forks soon as possbile who knows and this is why we have back up plan to know which forks will fit.

hope i make sense.

yea def...cuz my front end was 100% TIGHT and snapped....i am too scared to be testing more 636 ront ends that "mite" be ok...
and as far as 600RR...pretty sure they are 48mm so i dont think they will slide right in and work

good thing i got an 07 front end going on a 03-04 636. if your looking for the best front end to go on kawi's for the easiest fit it will probably be the 07 kawi front ends

Re: New Thread for 636 forks /looking for new forks to put on 636

Got some measurements

03-04 636 Fork Leg (from top of leg to middle of axle) = 28.5"
Stem on lower triple (from bottom race to top of stem) = 9"

05-06 600RR Fork Leg = 27"
Stem = ??? didnt have one to measure but the forks are so short i doubt it will work nicely

03-04 GSXR 1000 Fork Leg = 28"
Stem = 8.75"

Now these measuremenst are rough, but it gives you an idea of what we are working with... all measurements of fork legs were takin with fork ON THE BIKE so it might have been agging a little bit...

Can anyone measure some other fork legs and bottom triples for us please?...

I cant measure right now, but you may want to look into R1 front ends...

P.S. I have an 07 zx front end on mine and the only problem ive had is a bad fork seal.
