Powers cage screwed my frame(pics)

Re: Powers cage screwed my frame(pics)
uh......shouldnt there be a small square rubber pad there. If that is the rear mount I believe it should have at least a small pad there. Anyway unless in got some sort of shock system....the hit is going to be taken somewhere. Yeah the cage protects the overall bike but the impact is directed to mounts and cages. I wouldnt stunt an 07 year anything.....whats the point......I feel bad enough screwin up one of my older bikes that I have been building....Oh well...all good
oh by the way.....Iiknow what its like having to buy a new frame. My second bike I bought as a stunt bike I ended up finding a cracked frame....I bought a new one. Its not that bad but then to make it legit you got to go down to the CHP station and have them reassign a new vin or your current vin to the frame. Its crazy they inspect everything, run all the numbers, then what they call "blue tag" the frame because new frame do not come with any vin number. You get caought rollin a frame with no vin and its an automatic impound........whatever though......long process

Yes my ghetto camera phone puts out HD pictures, just squint a little and you can tell
I never expect a cage to protect everthing, hell i know ***** going to break. But the idea that it took out the frame kinda had us scratching our heads last night why. Where the cage ends is right over the weak spot in the frame, thats easy to tell as it has a hole on one side of it. Another 1/2 a inch in either direction I doubt that would of happened. The box frames are strong, but when you put a hole in one side it gives it a place to give out and break. Thats just where powers decided to put there cage
Swapping on a new frame would be easy but i dont have 2500 and am a full time student moving in two weeks......no cash im screwed. The only thing we can think is hope the crack isnt to bad, weld it up and plate it hoping it wont happen again. anyone got a clue on how much that costs?????

Re: Powers cage screwed my frame(pics)
we started to get a little creative on how to fix the problem......JB WELD BIATCH!
actauly theres a few company that foam fill frames, we used them for rally racing to increase the strength of frames. pretty light weight to.
Or weld the frame and plate it, then fill the inside of it with jb weld.....what u think?

I got the 2 rubber peices from powers and used em on the back, then i cut 2 more squares out of a tire and put em under the front, my bike came down hard and no probs, the rubber works

Re: Powers cage screwed my frame(pics)
damn dood them are some high quility pics ya got there!
welding on frames noramlly isnt a good idea, it will only make them weaker in that area... so next time it might break right outside the welds or near them... but thats really the only option unless you want to buy a new frame! ha
but i dunno who thinks you can wled steel plates to aluminum frame... cause it jus aint happening....
id say jus add some zipties alot of JBweld an a little tie wire an you should be good to go

If you're dealing w/ joe blow and his spool gun "aluminum welder" or some guy w/ out the sense to properly set up his tig, prep the work, use the proper filler rod and gas for the application.....then yea you're ****'s going to rebrake.
A little engineering w/ the plating goes a long way too. i didn't see who was talking about steel to alum... that's a good one!
