Bike was smoking big time!!! Help!!!
Last night I was out riding with my boys and I pulled up a sit down in 2nd gear. I rode it out till I hit the rev limiter. As soon as I set it down the bike starts smoking like crazy out of the exhaust. I come to a stop and there's oil leaking all over the bottom, back, and left and right sides of the engine. The front is clean. My friend tells me that oil got in the air box hence all the smoke. This makes sense but I don't understand why there is oil all over the place. I took the bike home and cleaned up all the parts on the bike that were covered in oil. I then took it back out and cracked more wheelies. No more smoke and no more leakage. What gives? Anybody ever run into this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The bike is an '05 Kawasaki ZX-10.

check your oil level you may have way to much oil in it,the most i would fill it is just barely to the top of the site window with the bike perfectly straight up on two wheels

Re: Bike was smoking big time!!! Help!!!
that happend to me once and it turned out to be a small hole in my oil filter. funny thing is that when the bike was under idle it wouldnt leak. so i would take it for a ride and i would come back with oil all over the damn bike. the funny thing was it would not spray until the rpms were higher. damn thing had me stumped for a minute. but this would not cause smoke to come out of your pipe!

Thats funny cuz I rock wheelies all day on mine. And have never had any issues with the oil light coming on or oil in the airbox. Quit power wheeling it till you hit the rev limiter. I always keep the rpms real low under 5k most of the time
