F4i Tail Cracking
I would like to hear and see some of the ways people have fixed the problem with the tail cracking from seatstander circles on the F4i.
post up pics if you got them.

Fiberglass the back side!
I've only put 2 layers on mine, but next time I paint my bike, imma throw another 5-7 layers on it..
It dosen't have to look good, just brace the inside of the tail real good :YEAH

Not yet, waitin on that flywheel. Zipties dont solve this problem unfortunately.
I was thinking somethin like that. Do you attach the wood to the subframe or the tail?

Thanks for the pic and thread. Would you mind expanding on how you place that piece of wood with the foam. Do you cut it to fit between the rider seat and the passenger seat? Or does it connect to the tail?
Thanks.

Re: F4i Tail Cracking
cut to length, lays up against those triangle metal pieces on the subframe, i just drilled a few small holes and ziptied it to that. then used 3m adhesive spray and put a piece of 3/4" foam from the craft store ...

Re: F4i Tail Cracking
Instead of real fibreglass which can be a bastard to work and the resin is some nasty **** on your skin you could use fibreglass reinforced bog, just get a rasp on the back side of the plastics to rough the surface up and then lay your pick of glass down, whether is be real fibreglass or the bog kind both will benifit from a non smooth surface to stick to

Just get some gloves, fiberglass resin, fiberglass mat, and a paint brush from walmart
Cut strips of fiberglass to around the size of the part of your tail you step on, paint the resin on the mat, apply it to the tail, use your glove covered hands to smooth it out..
repeat as many times as you like.. Once you get 5+ layers on you could jump on it and not break it
Im thinking about doing my whole tail.. That way I can continue to scrape with no round bar :YEAH

Re: F4i Tail Cracking
i fabed up a 1/8 inch piece of steel plate that i now stand on an tossed some grip tape on it...
i have it off my bike at the moment ill see if i can get some pics.
i bolt it to the seat bolts.
it works great!
no flex!
mines over engineered. but it aint breakn or flexn... i have seen simple'r designs thou.
if anyone needs one for a f4i...
i am gonna make a few for some people...
i can just add some to that list...
ill try an get pics up tommorow.

Re: F4i Tail Cracking
Cool, thank you everyone for the advice. Im gonna go for the fiber glass idea. This dude O-dog from down south did the metal with grip, but I wasn't feelin that, looked ugly and would eat my pants alive.
