Don't do it. Frame will crack for sure!! Cage doesn't help, it'll save the motor but brake everything else around it.

Re: 99 zx6r for a stunt bike

its a solid bike and a cool bike to learn on.. put on a cage and cut like 2 inches off the pegs..

after the bike is trashed.. sell it to someone else who wants to learn and buy a nicer newer bike

Re: 99 zx6r for a stunt bike

yeah it is nice bike however it does crack real east & the cage doesnt not really help for the frame , so cage and frame dont get along ..just b carefully

your gonna get mixed responses, but Listen to Thomas, he used to rock one hardcore.

All the ones I've seen get stunted were tanks, they held up to alot, never saw a frame crack either.

Re: 99 zx6r for a stunt bike

Got a 2000, but i'm not very hard on it

Couldn't find a cage i liked so we made one... and the bar as well. chop the levers and pegs a lil... and check the bolts on the subframe. Mine were loose as hell

Re: 99 zx6r for a stunt bike

the frames usually only crack if your motor mounts are loose and you slam the bike down alot , the motor is most of the support for the frame

i learned on a 98 and it took alot of beating but i did crack the frame ...lol

Re: 99 zx6r for a stunt bike

ok sell that bike for 2 k and buy a newer nicer bike for 4k

trash the new bike learning over the next year and then sell it for 2k and buy a new bike...

or

buy a cage for the zx6.. trash it learning this coming year.. then sell it for 2k to someone else who wants a starter stuntbike.. and then buy a nicer bike after you have learned a bunch of **** and have it for a while looking and running mint!

Makes sense to me, i guess i will just have to check everything over while i have it apart.
Is there a specific cage i should be looking at that will work better on my bike? Or any other ways to reinforce the frame?

Re: 99 zx6r for a stunt bike

ive seen f4i frames crack...

Ive seen gsxr frames crack

and yes i have cracked a zx6r frame...

its all relavent.. if you already knew how to stunt and were purchasing a bike and they were all the same price.. yeah get a better bike

but since you already own the bike and its not really worth much anyways.. stunt it.. trash it.. learn on it.. and then buy some newer ****

it is a very very capable bike

order a 905 cage

make your own bar if you can

cut the drivers pegs down some...

order a -1 and +6 sprocket set

and tear that **** up

the frame cracks right above the air duct holes

when it finally cracks.. take off the tank and go get it welded

Re: 99 zx6r for a stunt bike

Thanks for the post Thomas, I also have a 99 zx6r, I just recieved my cage a 905(looks solid), went 14/52 gearing, made a pretty ghetto scrape bar(footage of the carnage is coming) waiting on a foot peg bracket, and have a back up sub frame on the way. I'm not any good yet, so I figured destroy this bike learning, that is why I got it. Then up grade.

Rock it until it breaks, I learned on one and the frame never cracked. I did blow second gear once but like I said I was learning.
