idle question
nevermind i felt the hate in the first reply. i'm not ready for it.
just curious how safe i am using the engine brake to bring the wheel back to the earth. i have been learing spreader, ss, h/c, ect. and just wondering if i am setting myself up for a huge crash if i go back too far. it has been reliable to this point.

EL HOOOLE EL
If you are a "No Brake" phenom then by all means go right ahead. If not then get to know for rear brake REAL good, get slow, slower, now worry about idle.

Re: idle question
I use to rock no handbrake and looped it on a ss, the engine brake depends on the gearing and how far you do go back.
If you have a handbrake learn how to use it and you wont have to worry about engine brake. You will feel pretty stupid wading up if you could have prevented it. LEARN THE BRAKE it will change your life

Re: idle question
I did it. What the big deal.Once I knew BP going foot to hand was not bad at all. **** you gotta pull that bitch 9 times harder on a fiddy than the street bike.

Re: idle question
it's the throttle that throws me off. the fiddy is pretty forgiving. the r6 is twitchy as **** in comparison.
the fiddy you are forced to use the brake. i got the fiddy on lock with the brake control, you have to use the brakes, there aint **** for engine brake on that. i haven't got in a situation like that on the r6 yet. you close the throttle and the rubber side stays down, this isn't as true with the fiddy.

Re: idle question
i just haven't had to use the damn h/b yet, i'm trying to respect my bike.
i learned the brakes on the fiddy by wrecking 6345654343574 times. trying not to do that on this ****. i'm trying to carry the **** over.
someone must know what i'm saying, BENT RIM TIM i figure you would know since you started on the little one first too.
when i start turning the idle up the response will be more like the fiddy.
does anybody know what i mean i'm speakin english, i go back past bp on the r6 it's ok the engine brake will bring it down. the fiddy it won't i had to learn the brake. when the **** will i need the h/b. i assume when i turn up the idle and eliminate the engine brake. no??!!

Re: idle question
Yeah Ill admit engine brake on a bike bike is Hard to get use to.. lately Ive been pulling the clutch to get the tail close to the ground.. It works.. Just glides . .. Ok Ill say it.. I hate engine brake.. OMR needs to make me a freewheel sprocket for the rear...

Re: idle question
But yeah I turn my idle up to about 3,500 or just a hair more. with stock gearing. And engine brake is still there. I just try to go slower than the bike wants to so it wont kick in as much.. And Im sure bigger sprockets make the engine brake stronger. Not sure though.. Stock gears its pretty smooth.. Look into it.

Re: idle question
i kill hc circles on my fiddy with a hb. but i still havent been able to get a feel for my hb on the f4i but that has more to do with the position its in on my bike right now. i cant get my middle finger down to it with other one on the clutch so i just dont use it yet.
