You don't have to do comps to be sponsored and from what I heard sponsors don't really care about comps.. They prefer you do shows more than anything

Placing well at comps can help get sponsors who will then use you to put on shows all over the place, but I think you're right, the comps aren't necessary to get sponsored in general. Some companies only want the number one competitive rider, some don't care if you compete at all.

Good thing for you, could you imagine the travel budget?

sure, you can get sponsors without comps...and you have laid out a good example of getting pretty good sponsors going this route...


but...


if sponsors did not care about comps they would not put money into comps like they do now, we would not have XDL or contingency money from Craft helmets, etc...

the way i see it...

general riding and shows = sponsors
comps and shows = bigger sponsors and better sponsorship deals
