Re: fractured collar bone...

had 3rd degree AC separation 3- 4 month ago (another type of shoulder injury). Not sure if Ill ever be the same. Was riding a week later but luckly its my left arm. Circles are over for me till next year at least. My collar bone still looks like it poppin out an inch. Im 90 percent mobility and 90 percent strength. Heal up and stay positive

My avatar pic was 5 weeks after the crash

Re: fractured collar bone...

Also, some will say keep it pretty immobile whereas my father whos in sports medicine says to keep it moving? I think you shouldnt move it above your head or anything untill the doc says ok. Maybe split the difference and keep it totally immobile for a little while (week or two) then work on mobility.

PLEASE FOLLOW YOUR DOCTORS ORDERS AS I AM SPEAKING FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WHICH MAY NOT BE BEST FOR YOU.

Sex was the best rehab for mine. Youll be amazed at how it helps.

Re: fractured collar bone...

Broke mine twice! Its the biggest bitch to get over! But you get to rawk that sweet HE-MAN brace!

Mine was broke into 3 pieces tho. So it took way longer to heal!

docs didnt tell me what degree sep. mine was, they just said every single ligament in my shoulder tore completly apart. he originally said i'd be out of work for 4-6 weeks. thats BS i did it 8/18 and its now 9/21. i cant even go back to work until 10/15. ******* sucks, thats if i dont even need surgery, they r debating whether to put me through that, they said it will never be the same strenght and mobility wise. physical therapy works wonders though, i guess

Re: fractured collar bone...

leave the brace on. theres a flexible membrane that starts to join the two flailing pieces and the less you move the ****, the faster it heals. it starts to harden and calcify and in 6 months its like new

last october mine was totally broken and displaced like you wouldnt believe. the thing looks JACKED with my shirt off but its strong as ****. its actually my strong side now, I can crank out one handed push ups all day on it. no pain no nothing.
just man up and start doing push ups when its healed after 8 weeks or so

Re: fractured collar bone...

If you do go back to riding early get one of those funky looking neck donuts designed for offroad/MX they are not so much for preventing neck injuries like people think but are more for protecting your collarbone. When you get balled up your helmet rolls over and that is what causes your collarbone to break. The doughnut will give you some cushion. As far as healing time it all depends on how bad and where your break is but 6-8 is the norm. Don't ask me how I know that.
