stall
I’ve been trying to do a slow wheelie for awhile now , I have scraped it a few times , the problem I am having is the dam thing keeps stalling , im going like 4, 5 MPH with the stock sprocket while doing the wheelie witch is a 42 tooth , I have my foot in the back seat and every time it stalls my knee slams into the gas tank the pain has gotten excruciating I did it again on Saturday and I cant walk today ..I have disabled the tip over sensor
So here is my question if I turn the idle up to like 3000 RPM will it still stall at 4 , 5 MPH because of the small sprocket or will that help ?

Re: stall
thats what people mean when they say "catch idle"...if your going 4-5 mph with no idle...thats better...now yes if you turn the idle up it will help from stalling but when the bike starts to pull past BP dont kill it with the brake...good luck

Re: stall
with stock sprockets the bike will chug at that low of speed. you have to feather the clutch to keep it going or it'll stall and die.
also, when it stall, pull in teh clutch so it doesn't slam down...second reason to use the clutch.
to recap: use clutch by feathering to keep a stock geared bike from stalling at slow speed
second: use clutch to freewheel bike when you don't follow rule number 1 so you aren't slammed down.

Re: stall
First off 4000-4500 rpm is way too high, that's rediculous. Keep it more around the 3000-3500 rpm range and yes feather the clutch. Also STOCK rear on an F4I is a 46 tooth sprocket, NOT a 42, so if it is in fact a 42 that may be your problem. LOL. Hope that helps.

Re: stall
you don't want to go over 3k....or even that high. i keep mine 2-2.5k. once you start gettin it high it just sounds stupid and causes you to use more rear brake.
anyways, you don't have to be on the rear brake for it to chug and die. when the bike slows down and starts chugging, you have to feather (lightly pull on the clutch) so that it slips the clutch and it'll stay running. that is the drawback of being stock geared. it's harder to rock it super slow unless you put a bigger rear sprocket on so that the motor can pull the bike at low rpm

Re: stall
either i smoked to much or that was just a funny *** comment. are u at stock idle now? i usually run mine between 2.5 and 3k. learn to feather the clutch when u hear the bike wanting to stall... after a while u will ge the hang of it and ur knees will thank u.

Re: stall
if your rockin 4-5mph I'd say your doing just FINE for stock gearing
If you wanna go slower, only way is to work the clutch, or gear it..
My f4i runs like ****, and I can only get down to around 8-10mph before it stalls out on stock gearing..
Whereas my friends 600rr with a 60t rear I can hit 4-5mph indicated and hold it

Re: stall
and thanks to this thread...I'm gonna turn my idle down from 3500 to 3000 (as some of the more experienced guys here mentioned )(and I'm a newb, and I knew that 4500 was too high .....unless (from what I've read) you're trying to pull 3rd or 4th gear no handers or something)
I'm also gonna try to start feathering the clutch (just before stalling ...when I hear my bike pinging and detonating...lol)... I'm just learning idle...and I've stalled it out a few times now.... and this will be my next little hurdle. thanks to those who posted good info
