my 636 is boging BAD!!!!

Re: my 636 is boging BAD!!!!
it probably shuts of cause the battery voltage is not high enough to keep the bike on and the stator alone cant keep power to the bike cause the electronics pull current from the battery first then the stator replaces the power to the battery... that is why your stator is wired to a voltage regulator... try that and see if it helps... i thought the same thing you were thinking.. until some showed me how the bike moves power... good luck

take your tank off, flip it upside down, take off the fuel pump and look at the gas, if u notice syrup at the bottom, you got water in your tank.. if u shake the bike violently back n forth side to side while its running your problem will become intermittent i bet..

Re: my 636 is boging BAD!!!!
sitting for a month, i would guess it's something with the fuel system....bad gas, or now fouled plugs because of bad gas that was in it when you started it, or clogged fuel filter from sitting like someone said.
my gixxer sat for a while, i tried to fire it up, nothing. i changed all the plugs and gas because the gas had fouled out my plugs when i tried to start it. i should have known better than to try to start it with old gas.
also, the plugs were sparking when i tested them after the fresh gas, so i swore that wasn't it. i finally broke down and replaced them just to make sure and it fired right up without problem.
and the battery problem...normally the stator will power the bike, but most bikes don't start producing positive voltage to charge a battery until 5k rpms (hence the reason for testing stator output at 5k rpms, or whatever the manufacturer says). If you are at 1500 rpms the stator isn't putting out enough voltage to be charging the battery, so if your bat is dead or ruined from being dead it will be pulling a lot of amps from the stator trying to get juice, which is also what the bike is doing when you're running it. double edged sword and it won't provide the voltage for good enough spark.
i'd definately put that thing on a slow trickle charge for a day or so and try it, easy test and doesn't cost any money to do it.

my boi says it 99% a electrical problem cuz all my wires are exposed..... cuz it doenst bog all the time soo if it was a gas problem it would do it all the time....

Re: my 636 is boging BAD!!!!
Why don't you check the gas the battery and the plugs first like everyone on here is sugesting? None of that is hard to do. This way you wouldnt be messing with wireing and then have a rat's nest full of wires. Check the battery first then the plugs and gas. if that doesnt work then look for bad wires.

yep, just hit me up on here or my e-mail. my e-mail goes to my phone so if you catch me on there i can get back to you with answers faster. i'm always looking for a challenge.
durty; exposed wires are a huge clue. i didn't realize this was an intermittent problem. i would guess there arcing somewhere if there are exposed areas. tend to those first and make sure everything is connected properly and insulated properly then see if you're having the problem again.
