F4i front end help

Can you guys with swapped front ends post up about what you have, how its workin out, and what all you need for the swap?

I've read damn near the whole Gorka thread on building the F4i front end up, talked to Sitdown Steve about his 600RR front end, and talked to various people about their 954/929 front ends but im still a little shady on the whole subject.

I might be able to get a 600RR front end pretty soon but not sure which way i wanna go. Thanks ahead of time for any useful info.

And can we fix the damn search!!!

Re: F4i front end help

there is a big write up on 600rr.net about swaping front ends....if you take a 600rr front end im pretty sure so long as you get the COMPLETE font all you have to do is unbolt the old one and bolt on the new one!! to the best of my knowledge it is a direct swap......however i believe the rims are different sizes and the forks are differnet sizes but i could be wrong, thats why your best bet is to just buy a complete front end.

which is why i pm'd you on chicagoriders hahaha

Re: F4i front end help

I have a 954 front end on my f4i.

I bought the complete front end
New 954 bearings (better than the 929 bearings)
Reused the F4i front brake master
Got some flipped 636 clipons, dropped the forks in the triple as much as I could and mounted them on top of the triple.

Re: F4i front end help

After reading Matt Gorka's thread I'm really tempted to just build the F4i forks but I havent heard much from guys that have done that.

Re: F4i front end help

i weigh 225lbs and i put racetech 1.0 springs in with stock oil and turned the preload up pretty high(no lines showing...just nut)compression damping half rotation back from fully hard and rebound one rotation from all the way soft. works pretty good...
