So since you guysare on this topic


my 05 and 03 636 both make a weird whinning sound or humming? like metal is rubbing but every 636 i ride sounds that way, i think i have heard some people say thats just how they sound?


either way, why didnt some one tell me 2 years ago that 636's are easier to stunt than f4i's

god dam! i love my 03!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mine makes hellacious sound but only at 5500 rpm is that cam or are they noisy throughout your range

that's cam chain tensioner. if it was the valves then it would be at almost all rpms and would get progressively louder as you rev it up. same with a rod knocking.

cam chain tensioners usually get noisy at a certain rpm because of the harmonic vibration of that rpm with the tensioner. a lot of times past a certain point it'll get quiet again because the rpms of the motor will tighten the chain so it stop slapping back and forth.

cam chain might have stretched so far that the tensioner no longer holds pressure on it.

every kawi and honda i ever owned evenyually needed a cam chain tensioner the ape cct is only like 40 bucks and will last for ever so just get one and be done with the clack clack lol

very true! i usually just rev mine to the limiter and it stops making noise but i really should just replace it. its not like its a lot of money.
