so my si cage comes in and the delivery company wont give me my cage until i pay a cod fee of 90 bux. they tell me theres a broker fee and duty to get things across the border so ******* gay. all u other canadians where do u buy your **** from so i dont run into this problem next time i wanna buy stuff for my bike. i know i wont be buying from sickinnovations

ya i got dinged with my cage as well.. what i do is look for private sellers and get them to ship as a gift so i pay no duty what so ever.. eitehr look for a company that will ship as a gift or a private sale of parts..

i put $175 in the value box and did not send it as a gift and he didn't have to pay a duty , i think certain things throw up a red flag for customs although i don't know what those things are......

+1 Next time ask for the sender to write gift and also write down a value under $60.00 so you don’t get raped on country/duty taxes some countries charge based on the value of the item.

Just like a few others have already said...
If you want it duty-free, you need to get the sender to put a low value on the item (and mark it as a gift). The drawback to this is that the sender can't insure it for $200 if he puts $15 as the value. You take a risk doing this, but it can save you quite a bit on taxes when you receive it.
