Just a few ???s
ok, i picked up this bike from Big R in Mass. and i got a few questions about them in general. it's and '02 f4i with a 636 master and a full throttle inc fitting, now, i'm still not in need of the hb yet but i'm not about to take it off. my question is with the foot brake though, i find that when i get up to bp and go to use it that it seems to get softer each time i press it until i really have to move my foot further to push it. when i come back down and pull the hb though, it gives the pressure back in the pedal. wondering if i need to put more fluid in the resivor. like i said, i'm not really in need of the hb yet, but i'm covering it anyway and if the pedal goes "dead" then i use it. info pls!!!
Also, the bike has a 954 front end with db bars and fi risers. what are ppl running for stabilizers on this setup? would you need a mounting kit for the f4i? i think it had a scotts on it before but it seems like the bars are way too high off the triples for anything to fit right. thanks
also looking for an f4i rear rim if anyone got a spare lying around...

Re: Just a few ???s
probably air still in the system. The HB and FB are linked because of the junction valve...watch sit on the bike and have both your foot and hand on the HB & FB....press one another and feel what happens...this will always have this but the lag in FB pressure could be a coulple things....1 it could be excess air in the line making this foot to hand brake pressure gap widen...2 your foot master cylinder internals may need to be rebuilt...no big deal..just a couple seals inside to allow for pressure build up..3....new brake pads .
but good luck

Re: Just a few ???s
Just another thing to add....you CANNOT use both the handbrake and foot brake at the same time they will cancel each other out!! if you go to get on the footbrake and then also apply the handbrake you WILL eat ****!!!

Re: Just a few ???s
heh, yeah, i'm not using them at the same time... just one or the other if needed, i'm trying not to use the hb for the fact that i still need a lot of practice on the fb first. just need to bleed it and see if i can keep normal pressure in it.
i'm assuming that you bleed it like normal only using the hb instead of the fb to pump it?

if it where me and you need as much practice on the foot brake as you say but are already "covering " the hand brake i would take the lever off the hand brake to force yourself to learn the foot brake...you dont have to take the hb assembly off just take the lever off the perch so you have nothing in your head other then FOOT BRAKE!!!!
trust me you will thank yourself in the end, otherwise you will use the handbrake as a crutch all the while learning the footbrake!!

Re: Just a few ???s
there might be a air bubble in it , I suggest you to do is pump up on the HB then squeeze and hold it , use 8 mm wrench to bleed it when the fluid comes out at once then tight it back and pump it up and do it again till you feel stiff.....I had an extra f4i in a week later but got rid of it.
I miss that bike already lol

Re: Just a few ???s
To answer your question about puting a stabalizer on. The easiest way is to buy a full throttle db bar tripple clamp on and they leave room for a damper. I don't think most db bar risers have enough clearence for a damper.

Re: Just a few ???s
Yes it does , there is plenty room to put scotts or gpr dampner on it ...I had scotts dampner under db bars ....FI risers with spacer on an 954 front end.

Re: Just a few ???s
def. sounds like air in the system. checking for air in the line would be the first place to start. make sure you have a good brake fluid as well. you do not want to have issues with brake fade down the road.
