Recently crashed while drifting with new tire.

I crashed last saturday while drifting with a new batlax bt014 that i had just puted on.The tire burned like nothing i never drifted that easely. just had to twist the handle and it reved up like nothing. After about twenty minutes the tire got really warm and dirt caught on it.I did an other pass and ended up doing a high side.Didn't hurt myself on the fall. It's when the bike hit me afterwards.I rolled under it.That's when i hurt my shoulder.Ouch!!!!!!!!!!So i don't want this to happen again. But you can bet i'm not a quitter.I would like a few tips. What are the good tires for drifting and what pressure should i have?

Re: Recently crashed while drifting with new tire.

When you buy new tires they are usually still covered with "mold release" the stuff they put on it to get it out of the tire molds. It usually takes a couple hundred miles to wear this **** off.

That **** is slippery as ****. I bet you burned through it with the drifting and when you got to actual rubber it hooked and that's why you highsided.

The tire wasn't really new.I know about the silicone they put on to keep it from drying up while on the shelf.Actually does anyone have tips for drifting?

Re: Recently crashed while drifting with new tire.

tire release film can be gone in as little as 5 miles if you warm it up properly. You just cant expect the sides to hold if you havent scrubbed that part of the tire yet. Dont ask too much too early though
