Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
oh i used that kind... i was talkin about the nice power ones you just plug in and it sucks the fluid through the system... all you gotta do is keep the resevior full... its worked perfect for me every time when i worked at our old shop but we dont have on here and i cant find anyone that sells one

I've seen you time and time again suggest this method for bleeding, but dam, that must make one hell of a mess.

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
no not really because you can aim the spray away from the bike with your finger and i always do it were i have a hose or at least a big jug of water...

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
no the bracket stays fine.... the caliper was movin alot. if the bracket was movin it would just mean i needed to tighten my axle nut or somethin like that.... wierd thing is i havent messed with it for like 2 hours now and i just went and squeezed and i felt ALOT tighter than it did earlier... i can lock it w/ one finger now but i have to squeeze f'n hard t do it... i'm gonna leave it alone till i get the bike painted and put back together

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
i wasn't even thinking about your pads but if you have new pads it will be hard to get it to lock up with one finger till the pads are seated....

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
yea i think that may be my prob.... they are used and all grimmy so i cleaned em up with a grinding/sanding wheel since theres still so much pad left to em so you're prolly right... once i get the body work back on i'll ride it around the block a couple times workin the brake to see if i can get m seated in and maybe that'll fix my prob

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
in this previous post https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/2-s...g-hell-my.html i thought that my new hb setup was havin trouble bleeding but thats not the problem at all.... i'm running the ho_hey bracket and a billet brembo 16x18 and the brake is soft for like the first half a pull.... after i quadriple checked that it was bled to perfection i noticed the caliper was moving on the bracket the like piston doesn't seem to be holding steady pressure against the rotor. like theres not really much steady pressure coming from the piston once you let off... so i pulled the caliper off and noticed it only take using my middle finger and my thumb to compress the piston back into the rotor. compared to the other caliper that takes using my index and middle finger on the piston and thumb on the back side of the caliper from BOTH hands to compress it. what might caus this
oh and when i push w/ my foot the other caliper doesn't move (to the visible eye anyway) but the rear one (hooked to handbrake) moves about an 1/8 of an inch when you squeeze and let off....

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
ya, the whole "no pressure til pulled in an inch" means there is air in there causing the brake to be spongy. brake fluid in theory cannot be compressed...in microscopic ammounts it can, but for this discussion, no. air can be compressed which causes spongy.
it sucks dude, i've had HB's bleed in 5 minutes, and i've run across some that have taken me weeks to work out, and i do the same thing every time. just keep working at it.
also, what are on the pads? you said grimy? if the pads are soaked with something you need new ones. it also takes more than just a lap around the block to break them in. you should break them in gradually over the course of a day or so without getting htem super hot to be a real true break in that will last.

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
we had this problem a couple weeks ago with my buddys 636. problem is the bleeder has to be up top when you bleed, so you need to bleed the handbrake caliper in the stock caliper location or bleed it with a peice of wood between pads and have someone hold caliper in their hands. this is only way you will get all air out.

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
If you got shitty pads this will be the reason for no "1 finger" lockup.

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
I agree with the opinion that the caliper should be raised. I had one thhat just wouldn't bleed to save me so I took the caliper off and put it straight up with a block in it and it bled out on the first try. Make sure the bleeder is the highest point in the system.

Re: caliper moving on ho_hey bracket!
yes, now that i'm thinking about it, i agree with the other guys on moving the caliper. i completely forgot that it is mounted in a turned direction because of the bracket. like they said, the bleed screw must face UP otherwise a bubble can be trapped any place in the caliper that is higher than the bleed screw.
so ya, basically the bleed screw must be your highest point when bleeding.
