exactly see you dont need much jus a lil to pull ya along....i would venture a guess based on phsyics that the bigger your sprocket the less idle needed to pull ??? i could be wrong but that seems logical based on ratios and momentum????

its frustrating but god ya gotta love it :YEAH

the bigger the sprocket the more torque but the less rpm of the wheel in comparison to the motor so actually the bigger the gear the more idle you need to maintain an equal speed when off the throttle

in other words if you have a sixty tooth sprocket and you run 2500 rpm idle the bike will roll at a certain speed let's just say 7 miles an hour for the sake of the topic...

now if you run a stock sprocket at 2500 rpm idle the bike will roll alot faster so if you turn your idle down too much with a big sprocket the bike will be moving so slow on idle that it will be hard to keep the bike rolling straight because the slower you go the harder it is to roll straight and not wobble so you will be in and out of the gas ...

so i beleive the perfect idle setting is gonna be just high enough so you can do a nice straight smooth off throttle wheelie....

Ok, who in here is running or has run a 929 with a 15/55 setup or close to comparison. I would like 2 know what they think is a descent rpm setting for it in the lot...=-)

+1.......I'm right there with you guys. At first, I turned my idle up on my FZ-1(+12) thinking that it would smooth out my choppiness. Well......I'll be the first to tell you that it doesn't help. It's all about throttle/brake control. At first, my FZ was so twitchy I pulled all my wheelies in second gear for the first couple weeks. Then, once I started to smooth out second gear, I started doing them in first. Now that I've been clutchin up first for a month or two........they're starting to smooth out nicely. As Samurai said above.......If you clutch it a little smoother, and give it a little love(bounce), it should come up more predictably. Geared liter bikes demand a lot of respect. Be patient, you'll be rockin that 929 in no time!

+1 :YEAH

Respect... its all on what is comfortable to you... just because someone has the exact same setup as you doesnt mean that you'll both be able to the same things on the same idle.

Trial and Error
