929 breaking clipons

Ok so i have an FI cage on the 929 (i know the cage is a POS). Anyways for some reason if the bike is dropped just right, it'll go down to the clipons. Few times i have broken the damn stock clipons and its pissin me off. Is there anything that can be done to stop this from happening, besides a new cage. Will the FI clipons make a difference, or maybe hold up better. Im not ready for DB bars just yet either, LoL.....=-)

Re: 929 breaking clipons

I know it´s not the answer you wanna hear, but get an SI cage and you have no more sorrows.
I have 636 clips on my 954 and they are even longer than the stock 92954 clips but they never hit the ground hard enough to break with my SI cage on.

longer delrin sliders on your cage could help but it will raise the torque on the slider itself so it might snap the motormount....

Re: 929 breaking clipons

I've got the original style FI cage on my 929 and have never had a clipon touch the ground.

Not trying anything new that is.. I can whip circles like a champ on that bike now. But Edub Fish and Apex came up to Canada and showed me the new drifting hot sauce so im throwing on a cage to learn those.. Things are about to get nasty..

rofl and try leaving your clip-on bolts a little looser than usual that way they'll move instead of bend/break.

Re: 929 breaking clipons

Alot of good riders use or used that cage on that bike - Darius, Joe Brown, Rick Nasty... I think breaking parts it's just part of learning. 929/954 clip ons are pretty comfortable right from the factory.

Not trying to thread jack but I have some 929/954 stock clip ons for sale.

hahahaha
