Re: what do you consider drifting?
Ive been a long time fan of drifting...and using the brakes doesnt really decide if its a drift or not...but it does make it a good drift or a bad drift. watch drift bible best drift DVD imo if you want to kno more about drifting.

Re: what do you consider drifting?
All gas and lean angle on bikes to me but Drifting in Cars they use the brakes for controlled drifting alot.
Its damn sure alot more fun to do and watch without brake tho. Never done one without smilin afterward

Re: what do you consider drifting?
it's pritty easy to tell if it's drifting or not.
If i see someone in a corvette doing donuts im not gonna be like check out that corvette drifting.
But if i see a corvette sliding sideway's onto an onramp and controlling the slide i might be like check out that corvette drifting.
Brake or no brake drifting is drifting. It's all depending on what the person is doing.
i know it's different in a car then on a bike but i know in a car you have to use brake a little bit. Shouldnt be different on a bike when being judged if it's drifting or not.

Re: what do you consider drifting?
I voted No.
I consider motorcycle drifting to be a forward momentum (or sideways) SLIDE controlled by counter-steer and throttle input with BOTH FEET ON THE PEGS. Drifting is not just skidding to a near stop and then gassing the bike to turn around.
I also believe that using the front brake to "Set-Up" or go into a drift is okay as long as it is done before the throttle is applied. Using the front brake to take weight off the rear tire and initiate a slide is NOT the same as using the front brake doing sit-down donuts while dragging your front brake.
Teach and Javon kill it, but nothing like Gary McCoy...
