Re: Dragging tail on the highway

my old gsxr had a flat bar and i could scrape that biyatch from top of 5th gear to a park no problem.. prolly over 1000ft easy...

my new zx6rs i just left the exhaust no wheelie bar.. (pretty much a roundbar) and i can scrape em for a pretty sick distance no prob. havent really tried to go for a really long scrape on em though.. but im sure it would be no problem...

oh and ya i pull in the clutch when i do long drags

practice

Martino, good riding the other weekend, hopefully catch up again soon. Whether u have a 3 foot wide scrape bar, a round bar or just a back fender...the further back past 12 o'clock you go the more unstable it feels.

Re: Dragging tail on the highway

it's a user error.

scraping high speed for distance requires just as much balance as a wheelie....you get your weight off balance and you're done.

that being said i hate round bars and drag with a flat bar, always smooth and for long distance because i love dragging SS on the streets. My flat bar will get shitty too if i'm not smooth so i don't think it's the bar.

I have a round bar and totally agree with you about the balance issue....I find myself using my upper body to sort of throw the front end either way that it tries to get out from underneath me, Try to maintain which way it is going

and i'me getting a round bar as well. I've not scraped a round bar yet but i've done my old tail without a bar. All i did was a coaster and and let it come back, but that was only about 40mph ish, not much more.

What speed are you talking about??

Re: Dragging tail on the highway

The pizza pan kinda takes away from the sleeper look on that gixxer .High speed scrapes flat or round bar definately pull in the clutch,I think it's way more stable with the clutch in.

Re: Dragging tail on the highway

It doesn't matter whether its a flat or round bar, just pull in the clutch.

The flat bar will eventually create its own flat spot anyways.

Re: Dragging tail on the highway

dragging a round bar is easiers cus it doesnt have edges to catch....as soon as u get over the panic when it moves around a lil u get it...cus it wobbles then straightens it self out, if it gets real bad u can ride the brake a lill....my best is coming in 4th gear coasters on the highway an draggin it for like 2 secs....i cant drag acouple hundred feet on the highway...that wud be nutty
