2stroke or 4stroke

I sold my rr and now I'm lookin at buying a dirtbike. My brother's got 4 wheelers and stuff for mudding and what not but I want a bike that'll be good all around. So I started looking and all I'm seeing in my price range around here ($1500) are 2 strokes. If I want to stunt the db should I hold out til I find a 4 stroke or will I be satisfied with like a 98 cr250? I'd like to learn the slow stuff on a db so on the next stuntbike I get it'll come easy. And don't say get a fiddy. As much as I'd like to have one to play with, I've gotta be able to keep up with my brother on the trails when I'm not stuntin - hence my dilemma.

So what's the verdict, 2 or 4?

Though I've ridden plenty, I've never owned a db so help me out.

-yow!

2 STROKES ALL THE WAY.
Ride it before they outlaw them, you'll love the smell, your love the noise.
You know it makes sense :!

Re: 2stroke or 4stroke

i ride a 2-stroke in the woods and it does great. only mod is a flywheel weight to add more power on the low end.

lol, this is the craziest thing I ever heard...a flywheel weight smooths out the power impulses of the motor...it gives your crank more spinning mass...it mainly helps smooth the harsh powerban so theres not so much of a hit. Makes your rear wheel track better and over time saves you energy...U need a 4 stroke for stunting (you can to it on a 2 stroke but your bag of tricks will be limited)

Re: 2stroke or 4stroke

2 strokes have got the best hops, four strokes are sweeter on the throttle. You're not going to get all around optimal, so where are your stunts going to be for the most part?
4 stroke street tires, good for ground stunts. 2 stroke, good for the whips, jumps and hanging tricks in the air.

If you want to die, get a geared up 2 stroke 250 and start learning slow wheelies on dirt tires.

*sigh* the temptation. Four strokes have been calling to me.

I actually had my two stroke de-tuned and it was still just the ****** devil. I heart the old school two strokes.
The four strokes are so much sweeter but they can be blown up. The two strokes, mix the fuel right and you can rip that **** all the way open, in any gear, and you'll drop out first. IME

Re: 2stroke or 4stroke

I really wanna do the slow stuff so I guess the 2 stroke's outta the question. Suppose I needed you guys to confirm what I thought I knew. You think I'd find one in my price range, ever? under 2k

You can get an 01-02 YZ250F for around 2k, but you still need wheels if you really want to get dirty.
