Re: 636 fork swap?

I'm thinking about doing this as well. Do you have to use the 05, 06 triple?

Will the 04 axle work with the 05 forks? Someone post up some answers please!

Yea swapping the bearings out is easier said then done LOL.

Actually I'm using a 05 636 front wheel and an 04 axle and everything bolted up fine so maybe you don't need to swap the bearings

Re: 636 fork swap?

If you use the 05 06 636 forks you will need a fender too.The axle works on them too you have to use the 05 06 636 lower tripple but you can use eather top tripple for them.

for the zx10 swap you have to press the 03 04 stering stem out and press it into the zx10 lower tripple cause the zx10 one is too short and use eather top tripple. You have to use the zx10 axle pluse spacers for it. and you can use a zx10 or 05 06 636 fender.

Re: 636 fork swap?

Whamey.... Dan layin it down.

This guy will have the 05/06 front end on my 03/04 as soon as I get a fender.

Anybody know how to space the 05/06 rear wheel in the 03/04 swingarm? Haven't tried yet but I'm guessing I'll have to make spacers unless I use the 05/06 swingarm.

Re: 636 fork swap?

the 05 06 all I was told is you just need 10mm spacers for the calpers.. it'll work with 04 tripple

Re: 636 fork swap?

just swapped my front end and rear end out.05-06 swingarm and forks and the wheels on my 04 636.For the front end I just left my 03-04 triples on there and just slid the fork tubes up and bolted the rest right up.i gotta gpr dampner for it and wasnt sure if the newer triples would not work with the dampner.i dunno, didnt feel like messin with it.

Re: 636 fork swap?

can you use an 03-04 front wheel with 05-06 rotors, forks, calipers? 03-04 and 05-06 triples are basically the same geometry right?

Re: 636 fork swap?

ok,

05 forks Are exactly the same as the 03/04 except for two things

You must use 05/06 rotors with 05/06 forks

And they are made by Showa..

Do not use 05/06 tripple on 03/04 frame cause the stem on the 05/06's is shorter and you cannot USE the 03/04 top tripple clamp on the 05/06 lower tripple because the stem is skinner at the top so you'l have to creat some kinda of spacer which would be a pain in the ***...

Both forks are 30 1/2 inchs and same width at the clamps... so use your 03/04 tripple trees with the fork conversion. but you need the larger rotors to accomidate the new caliper distance on the forks.

I would be the first to do that as far as I know, did that more then a year and a half ago...Because when I asked on all the Kawi fourms everyone said it was not possible without the 05 swingarm swap....But Ive done it both ways
