idle for learning

idle for learning
so yesterday a friend and I where having a discussion about which was easier/more recommendable... learning how to stunt with stock idle or with your idle all the up at around 3K. He also refused to take my advice about learning on stock gears and he jumped straight into a +8 -1 setup, but thats a whole nother topic.
So I wanna hear what you guys think of this?? idle up or stock idle for learning??
I personally think one should learn on stock idle AND stock gears before tunning the bike

Re: idle for learning
ill assume that this is for learning slow ****?
if u have rb control, pop it up to 3k....
if not, leave it at stock, cause if u go high enough and u cant work the rb, the idle will just take u allllll the way back.

Re: idle for learning
Having the idle up when I was learning helped me because I was a ***** on the throttle so it gave me a headstart. Otherwise it was useless when I wasn't getting past BP. Its useful now so I can learn to catch idle and ride around on it.
On another note, what idle do you guys keep your bike at when you are on the street?

between 1-1.5k for da streetz.
but ya, like joker said, if ur poppin em up at 20mph n' chasing it till rev-limiter, havin ur idle up won't help...itll only heat up ur bike for when u slow down or stop.

Re: idle for learning
its not really going to make a difference at all if he turns his idle up and cant even reach balance point yet. the idle at 3k is not going to come in to play until the bike is slowed down to around 15mph or so depending on the gearing.
and on the streets i run stock idle, no point in turnin the idle up unless your doing circs or no handers.

High idle, stock gears. Makes clutching up hella easier, and the wheelie smoother so as a noob you don't have to worry about throttle chop and trying to figure out the rear brake at slow speeds. I can't slow wheelie worth a damn with low idle.. chop chop m'*******.
